Celia Chazelle
Celia Martin Chazelle (born April 7, 1954) is a Canadian-American historian and author. She is a professor of history at The College of New Jersey. Early life and education Celia Martin was born in California on April 7, 1954, to an English father, John Martin, who held small roles in films and who taught English literature at the University of Calgary. Her mother Constance was born in Calgary. Her grandfather was a manager of Paramount Pictures in London during the era of silent films. Chazelle completed a Bachelor of Arts in history at the University of Toronto in 1977. She earned a Master of Arts in medieval studies in 1978 at Yale University, where she also completed a doctorate of philosophy in 1985. Chazelle has two younger siblings. Career In 2008, Chazelle began teaching courses in social justice and prison history at the Albert C. Wagner Youth Correctional Facility, through the Petey Greene Prisoner Assistance Program. The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is a public university in Ewing Township, New Jersey. It is part of New Jersey's public system of higher education. Established in 1855 as the New Jersey State Normal School, TCNJ was the first normal school, or teaching college, in the state of New Jersey and the fifth in the United States. It was originally located in Trenton proper and moved to its present location in adjacent Ewing Township during the early to mid-1930s. Since its inception, TCNJ has undergone several name changes, the most recent being the 1996 change from Trenton State College to its current name.
