Celebration Cup
The Celebration Cup, is a horse race for horses aged three and over, run at a distance of 1,400 metres (seven furlongs) on turf on 1 October (National Day of the People's Republic of China) at Sha Tin Racecourse in Hong Kong. The Celebration Cup was first contested in 2014, and was upgraded to International Group 3 class in 2016. Sha Tin Racecourse
Sha Tin Racecourse is one of the two racecourses for horse racing in Hong Kong. It is located in Sha Tin in the New Territories. It is managed by Hong Kong Jockey Club. Penfold Park is encircled by the track, and the Hong Kong Sports Institute is located immediately south of the property. Michael Jackson planned to perform at the racecourse on his Dangerous World Tour, which was the start of the third leg, but was cancelled due to the conflict of the racing season. History It was built in 1978 (under the administration of Sir David Akers-Jones, the then-Secretary for the New Territories) on reclaimed land and is the larger of the two tracks in Hong Kong. John Size
John Size (born 10 July 1954) is one of the most successful racehorse trainers in Hong Kong history and was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall Of Fame in 2018. After a successful career in his native Australia, Size arrived in Hong Kong for the 2001-02 season with a reputation for rejuvenating horses set back by illness or injury and for his ability to mould and develop young horses from the beginning of their careers. In his first season, he trained 58 winners to become only the second trainer ever to win the championship title in his first season. Frankie Lor Fu Chuen () is a Hong Kong horse racing trainer and former jockey. Career As jockey Lor began his racing career as a jockey. He won 27 races between 1981 and 1995. Matthew Chadwick
Matthew Chadwick (born 12 Jul 1990) is a horse racing jockey in Hong Kong. He was champion apprentice in 2008/09. He ranked fourth in the jockeys' premiership in 2009/10 although he became a fully fledged jockey in mid season. By the end of 2010/11, Chadwick had had 134 wins. Golden Sixty ( zh, 金鎗六十, foaled 14 October 2015) is a champion Australian-bred Hong Kong-trained Thoroughbred racehorse who won the Four-Year-Old Classic Series in year 2020 and was named the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 Hong Kong Horse of the Year. After being sold to New Zealand-based interests as a yearling he was exported to Hong Kong as a two-year-old. In his first season the gelding won his first three races but ran unplaced in his final start. In the 2019/2020 season he emerged as one of the best horses in Hong Kong as he was undefeated in seven starts including the Chinese Club Challenge Cup, Hong Kong Classic Mile, Hong Kong Classic Cup, and Hong Kong Derby.
