Gabriello Cecchi
Sir Gabriello Cecchi (Ponte Buggianese, 1914 – Torino, 2000) was an Italian entrepreneur in the gelato industry. He learned trade from his father Raimondo and went on to improve it in France. He created the Gelati Cecchi brand in 1936 and founded Cecchi Industries after the war. He managed the company until 1973 when he sold the company to the Italian group Barilla (company), Barilla. After its sale, he remained Honorary chairman and Director of the Italian group and Motta-Nestlé up until the 1990s. The brand was relaunched by his grandson, Stefano Cecchi. Cecchi was the patron of the A-series Pallacanestro Biella team and a co-founder of a Turin Bank. He was a member of the International Brigades that fought Francisco Franco's Fascist army in Spain during the Spanish Civil War. Gelati Cecchi is an Italian gelato company founded in 1936 by Gabriello Cecchi in Turin. Today the company is led by grandson Stefano Cecchi. History 1936-1950 In 1936, Gabriello Cecchi moved to Turin. He was originally from Ponte Buggianese, in Tuscany, but he hailed from France, where he learned the art of making gelato from Italian immigrants. Assisted by his wife and his brother, Tancredi, he opened an gelato parlour in Corso Palestro with a seating capacity of 200 and a workshop attached. The business grew quickly, thanks also to his famous crema gialla custard flavour, considered the best in Turin at the time. This particular type of vanilla, a flavour that no one ever managed to reproduce, was Gabriello's jewel in the crown. Gabriella Cecchi (born 3 November 1944) is an Italian pianist, music educator and composer. She was born in Ricco del Golfo, La Spezia, and began her study of music at the age of 16. She studied in Lucca, Genoa and composition with Franco Donatoni at the Chigiana Music Academy in Siena. After completing her studies, Cecchi worked as a music teacher and composer. Giovanni Battista Cecchi (1748/9 – after 1815) was an Italian engraver, active in a neoclassical style in his native Florence, Region of Tuscany, Italy. Biography Initially trained as a carpenter, an injury to his dominant right hand prompted apprenticing under Francesco Conti, and subsequently became a follower of the engraver Ferdinando Gregori.
