Cebu Coliseum
The Cebu Coliseum is an indoor arena in Cebu City, Philippines. Its seating capacity is around 5,000. The coliseum hosts various sports events and concerts in Cebu and is the primary venue for CESAFI games. It was also the home of the Cebu Gems of the defunct MBA. On August 4, 1962, one of the first events it hosted was a fight between hometown hero Gabriel "Flash" Elorde and Japanese boxer Terou Kosaka. It was their second of their four fights in a span of 4 years (1961-1965). On March 24, 1979, the first National Arnis Championships. It has also become a regular venue for selected on-tour games in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) since 1975 and also host of the 1982 PBA All-Star Series, 1998 PBA All-Star Weekend and 2004 PBA All-Star Weekend. Cebu City Sports Complex
The Cebu City Sports Center, formerly called as Abellana Sports Complex is a track and field and football stadium located in Cebu City, Philippines. The complex was built by the city to serve as the main venue for the 1994 Palarong Pambansa and accommodate large events of various kinds. It is owned and managed by the Cebu City government. A number of major events have taken place at the Complex, including concerts, sports events, governmental activities, and the Sinulog Festival, which is held there every year. In addition, Philippines Football League club Global Cebu F.C. has made the stadium their home since entering the league in 2017. A majority of elimination round games are held in the Smart Araneta Coliseum. SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay is an alternative venue when the Smart Araneta Coliseum is unavailable. Playoff games are exclusively held at venues in Metro Manila, mostly at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. Provincial games are held on selected locations throughout the country, with most of the games held on a Saturday. Very rarely does a playoff game is held outside Metro Manila, if at all. The 1998 PBA All-Star Weekend is the annual all-star weekend of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Instead of the old formats of pitting its stars from the North against the South or the veterans versus the youngsters, the league this time featured the Philippine Centennial Team against a PBA Selection, reinforced by imports. They played twice and the first All-Star Game was held outside of Manila since the annual spectacle was institutionalized in 1989. 1982 PBA All-Star Series
The 1982 PBA All-Star Series is the first official North vs South All-Star Game series by the Philippine Basketball Association and was presented by Mello Yello. The PBA North All-Stars defeated the South team with a more total points in the two-game series, 242-240. The South All-Stars won the first game in Cebu Coliseum, 122-119, on Saturday, October 23. The North team won the second game on the following day in Manila, 123-118. Arnie Tuadles was picked by co-players in the series as Most Valuable Player (MVP). Gabriel Elorde
Gabriel "Flash" Elorde (March 25, 1935 – January 2, 1985) was a Filipino professional boxer. He won the lineal super featherweight title in 1960. In 1963, he won the inaugural WBC and WBA super featherweight titles. He holds the record at super featherweight division for the longest title reign, spanning seven years. Elorde is considered one of the best Filipino boxers of all time along with eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao and Pancho Villa, flyweight champion in the 1920s. He was much beloved in the Philippines as a sports and cultural icon, being the first Filipino international boxing champion since middleweight champion Ceferino Garcia.
