''Cavalo de Aço'' is a Brazilian telenovela produced and broadcast by TV Globo. It premiered on 24 January 1973 and ended on 21 August 1973, with a total of 179 episodes in Black and white. It is the twelfth "novela das oito" to be aired on the timeslot. It was created and written by Walter Negrão and directed by Walter Avancini, David Grimberg and Daniel Filho. Telenovela
A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include '' teleserye'' (Philippines), '' téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs. This makes them shorter than most other television series, but still much longer than a miniseries. José Wilker
José Wilker Almeida (20 August 1944 – 5 April 2014) was a Brazilian film, stage, and television actor and director. The actor gained fame in telenovelas like ''Roque Santeiro'' (1985), but became known internationally for his role as Vadinho, the husband who returns from the dead to tempt Sônia Braga in the movie ''Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands'' (1976). Career Wilker was born on August 20, 1944 in Juazeiro do Norte. He started his career as a radio announcer at a radio in Ceará, where he was born. He moved to Recife and worked in the theater as a member of Movimento de Cultura Popular (MPC). The group brought culture and lessons in reading, writing, and politics. MPC was banned during the military repression in the 1960s, and Wilker moved to Rio de Janeiro. He began working in cinema in Rio, which was at the forefront of Brazilian experimental and national cinema. Mário Lago OMC ( November 26, 1911 — May 30, 2002) was a Brazilian lawyer, poet, broadcaster, composer and actor.
