Caulfield Racecourse Reserve
Caulfield Racecourse Reserve is located nine kilometres from the Melbourne CBD, on the boundary of Caulfield and Caulfield East in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs. The Reserve was set aside for three purposes, racing, recreation and a public park. Caulfield railway station is a Commuter rail, commuter railway station on the northern boundary of Caulfield East, Victoria, Caulfield East, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The Caulfield Sprint is a Melbourne Racing Club Group 2 Thoroughbred horse race held under open handicap conditions, for horses aged three years old and upwards, over a distance of 1000 metres, held at Caulfield Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia in October. Total prize money for the race is A$300,000. History The event is scheduled on the third day of the MRC Spring Carnival (Caulfield Cup Day). After the champion sprinter Schillaci won this race in 1994, the following year the race was renamed after the thoroughbred to the Schillaci Stakes. The race was run from 1995 to 1999 under the new name but the following year the Victoria Amateur Turf Club made a decision to rename the Chirnside Stakes to the Schillaci Stakes. The Toorak Handicap is a Melbourne Racing Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race run as an open handicap race, over a distance of 1,600 metres at Caulfield Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia. Currently, the prizemoney is A$1,000,000. History The race is held annually in October on Caulfield Guineas day, the first day of the MRC Spring Carnival. During World War II the race was run at Flemington Racecourse. The Thousand Guineas is a Melbourne Racing Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race for three year old fillies at set weights run over a distance of 1600 metres at Caulfield Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia in early October. History Prior to 1994, the race was held on Royal Melbourne Show Day, which was observed on the Thursday in the last full week of September as a public holiday. The Might and Power, registered as the Caulfield Stakes is a Melbourne Racing Club Group One, Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race run under weight-for-age conditions, for three-year-olds and upwards, run over a distance of 2,000 metres at Caulfield Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia.
