Catspaw (album)
''Catspaw'' is the fifteenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Matthew Sweet. It was released on January 15, 2021, through Omnivore Recordings. Background Recording and instrumentation for the album was completed in 2019, while in Sweet's home studio, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Velvet Crush drummer Ric Menck collaborates on majority of the songs through the album. Release The first single "Stars Explode" was released on December 12, 2020. Critical reception ''Catspaw'' was met with "generally favorable" reviews from critics. At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, this release received an average score of 77 based on 5 reviews. Matthew Sweet
Sidney Matthew Sweet (born October 6, 1964) is an American alternative rock/power pop singer-songwriter and musician who was part of the burgeoning music scene in Athens, Georgia, during the 1980s before gaining commercial success in the 1990s as a solo artist. His companion albums, '' Tomorrow Forever'' and ''Tomorrow's Daughter'', were followed by 2018's ''Wicked System of Things'' and 2021's '' Catspaw'', his 15th studio effort. Early life, family, and education Sweet was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. He graduated from Southeast High School in Lincoln, in 1983. Upon graduation he moved to Athens, Georgia to attend college. Weighted Arithmetic Mean
The weighted arithmetic mean is similar to an ordinary arithmetic mean (the most common type of average), except that instead of each of the data points contributing equally to the final average, some data points contribute more than others. The notion of weighted mean plays a role in descriptive statistics and also occurs in a more general form in several other areas of mathematics. Velvet Crush is an American power pop band from Providence, Rhode Island, United States, that achieved prominence in indie-rock circles in the early- and mid-1990s. The band broke up in 1996 but re-formed in 1998 and have continued to record, releasing their most recent album in 2004. Vocalist/bassist Paul Chastain and drummer Ric Menck are the band's core members, having previously worked together as Choo Choo Train, Bag-O-Shells, and The Springfields, and they share singing and songwriting duties.
