Catharina Jacoba Abrahamina Enschedé
Catharina Jacoba Abrahamina Enschedé (1828 – 1883) was a 19th-century Dutch painter. Biography She was born in Haarlem as the sister of the later art collector, city archivist, and museum consultant Adriaan Justus Enschedé. She was probably influenced by him as well as her artistic aunts Sandrina Christina Elisabeth Enschedé and Christina Gerarda Enschedé. She made a copy around 1870 of the Frans Hals portrait of Aletta Hanemans for the Frans Hals museum. She meant it as a souvenir because the Hals portrait which had been shown in Haarlem was sold in Amsterdam in 1877 and later moved to the Hague as part of the painting collection of the newly refurbished Mauritshuis in 1880. Christina Gerarda Enschedé (10 December 1791 – 6 March 1873) was a Dutch painter. Biography She was born in Haarlem as the fifth of nine children and the third daughter of Johannes Enschedé Jr. and Johanna Elisabeth Swaving. After her father's early death in 1799 she became a partner in the family business, but did not take an active part in the daily proceedings. She and her sister Sandrina took drawing lessons and were active in the theater societies of their mother. Aletta Hanemans
Aletta Hanemans (1606–1653), was a Dutch brewer. She became the brewer of the ''Hoeffijser'' in Haarlem. She is best known today for her marriage portrait by Frans Hals, painted when she married the brewer, magistrate, and later mayor of Haarlem, Jacob Pietersz Olycan in 1624. Biography Little is known of her early life, but her father was probably a professional acquaintance of her husband's father Pieter Jacobsz Olycan, who had grown up in his father's oil and grain shop in Amsterdam. Though she married Jacob in Zwolle, the young couple was back in Haarlem in 1625, when Hals painted their pendant portraits. Frans Hals Museum
The Frans Hals Museum is a museum located in Haarlem, the Netherlands. The museum was established in 1862. In 1950, the museum was split in two locations when the collection of modern art was moved to the '' Museum De Hallen'' (since 2018 called ''Hal)''. The main collection, including its famous 17th-century Frans Hals paintings, for which the museum is named, is located in the former ''Oude Mannenhuis'' on the Groot Heiligland. The museum was founded in 1862 in the newly renovated former Dominican church cloisters located in the back of the Haarlem city hall known as the ''Prinsenhof'', and when it needed more space, it moved to the recently vacated location of the town orphanage in 1913.
