Catania-Etna (Hill Climb)
The Catania-Etna (from 1969 to 1972 ''Corsa dell'Etna'') is a car competition, more precisely a hillclimb, which takes place annually in province of Catania. It is valid for the Cronosprint Trophy. It is organized by the Automobile Club d'Italia of Catania. History The first edition was organized on June 8, 1924 from Unione Sportiva Catanese (ancestor of the team of football of Catania) and took place between the ''Piazza Duomo di Catania'' and Zafferana Etnea passing through the Barrier of the Forest, Sant'Agata li Battiati, San Giovanni la Punta, Trecastagni, Viagrande and Fleri. Mount Etna
Mount Etna, or simply Etna ( it, Etna or ; scn, Muncibbeḍḍu or ; la, Aetna; grc, Αἴτνα and ), is an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily, Italy, in the Metropolitan City of Catania, between the cities of Messina and Catania. It lies above the convergent plate margin between the African Plate and the Eurasian Plate. It is one of the tallest active volcanoes in Europe, and the tallest peak in Italy south of the Alps with a current height (July 2021) of , though this varies with summit eruptions. Over a six-month period in 2021, Etna erupted so much volcanic material that its height increased by approximately , and the southeastern crater is now the tallest part of the volcano. Automobili Stanguellini was an Italian maker of small sports cars, based in Modena and founded by Vittorio Stanguellini; it was most active between 1946 and 1960. They continued to produce competition cars until 1981, when Vittorio Stanguellini died; thenceforth, the company devoted to vintage cars. ''Lotario'' ("Lothair", HWV 26) is an opera seria in three acts by George Frideric Handel. The Italian-language libretto was adapted from Antonio Salvi's ''Adelaide''.The opera was first given at the King's Theatre in London on 2 December 1729. The story of the opera is a fictionalisation of some events in the life of Holy Roman Empress Adelaide of Italy. Ceirano GB & C was a historic automobile company, founded in October 1888 by Giovanni Battista Ceirano, Emanuele di Bricherasio, Attilio Calligaris, Pietro Fenoglio and Cesare Goria Gatti. The new company was based in Turin, where it began to build bicycles under the ''Welleyes brand name.'' In 1899, the company hired Aristide Faccioli to design a small car with two seats.
