Castlebar Transmitter
The Castlebar transmitter is a relay station used to broadcast television and radio to a large part of County Mayo, Ireland, located at Croaghmoyle. The site is part of the RTÉ Network Limited transmission network. The transmitter currently provides FM radio on VHF and a number of television stations on UHF. Tawnycullawee deflector site A separate, close-by site at Tawnycullawee was a television deflector station operated by Dropvale Limited, which carried channels from the UK as well as TV3 Eurosport (Channel 39 615.25 MHz) and Sky News (Channel 42 639.25 MHz). The Tawnycullawee site is located at a lower altitude (within the same range of hills) and transmitted on lower power than Croaghmoyle, as it is intended to serve the town of Castlebar and its immediate environs only. Ulster Television
UTV (formerly Ulster Television, branded on air as ITV1) is the ITV region covering Northern Ireland, ITV subsidiary and the former on-air name of the free-to-air public broadcast television channel serving the area. It is run by ITV plc and is responsible for the regional news service and other programmes made principally for the area. BBC One
BBC One is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network owned and operated by the BBC. ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ITV is the oldest commercial network in the UK. Saorview
Saorview ( ) is the national digital terrestrial television (DTT) service in Ireland. It is owned by RTÉ and operated by 2RN. The service began operation on 29 October 2010 on a trial basis with a full launch on 26 May 2011. By legislation it was required to be available to approximately 90% of the population by end of October 2010 in a public testing capacity and nationwide by December 2011. The national public launch was preceded by a public information campaign, which began on 15 March 2011, with television and radio advertising beginning on 17 March 2011. MidWest Radio is a Radio broadcasting, radio station based in County Mayo, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. i102-104FM was a regional station in Ireland, launched on 7 February 2008. The station had won a licence – as part of a strategy by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland to create a network of regional youth stations across the Republic – to operate a 'youth' oriented station that would broadcast across seven counties in the northwest and west of Ireland, targeting listeners aged between 15 and 34. In 2011, i102-104FM merged with its sister station i105-107FM; the combined station now broadcasts as iRadio. i102-104FM had its studios originally in Galway City, and towards the end of the station's life, Athlone.
