Cascade Range
The Cascade Range or Cascades is a major mountain range of western North America, extending from southern British Columbia through Washington and Oregon to Northern California. It includes both non-volcanic mountains, such as the North Cascades, and the notable volcanoes known as the High Cascades. The small part of the range in British Columbia is referred to as the Canadian Cascades or, locally, as the Cascade Mountains. The latter term is also sometimes used by Washington residents to refer to the Washington section of the Cascades in addition to North Cascades, the more usual U.S. term, as in North Cascades National Park. Cascadian (train)
The ''Cascadian'' was an American named train of the Great Northern Railway on its route between Seattle and Spokane, Washington. The ''Cascadian'' was officially listed as a streamliner on August 15, 1954. The Great Northern Railway operated a daylight train between Seattle and Spokane that traversed the Cascade Mountains through the Cascade Tunnel. It then descended the eastern slopes through the Cashmere – Wenatchee apple growing region before crossing the Columbia River and climbing up to the high Columbia plateau and the wheat fields of the Inland Empire. Acadia
Acadia (french: link=no, Acadie) was a colony of New France in northeastern North America which included parts of what are now the Maritime provinces, the Gaspé Peninsula and Maine to the Kennebec River. During much of the 17th and early 18th centuries, Norridgewock on the Kennebec River and Castine at the end of the Penobscot River were the southernmost settlements of Acadia. The French government specified land bordering the Atlantic coast, roughly between the 40th and 46th parallels. It was eventually divided into British colonies. The population of Acadia included the various indigenous First Nations that comprised the Wabanaki Confederacy, the Acadian people and other French settlers. Freightliner Cascadia is a heavy-duty semi-trailer truck and the flagship model of Freightliner. Cascadian (foaled 26 March 2015) is a British bred and Australian raced Group 1 winning racehorse. Background A homebred for Godolphin, Cascadian is the son of Epsom Derby hero New Approach and is the best of three winners out of the talented Street Cry mare Falls Of Lora, whose four wins included the Group III UAE Oaks and the Listed Coral Distaff at Sandown. Racing career Cascadian began his racing career in France under the guidance of trainer André Fabre. Cascadia is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) that was established in 1892 on the South Santiam River, east of the current city of Sweet Home, in Linn County, Oregon, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 147. Originally a stage stop on the Santiam Wagon Road, then a summer resort also known as Cascadia Mineral Springs, Cascadia had a post office established in 1898. It maintains a ZIP code of 97329. The resort had a hotel established by George Geisendorfer, who was also the first postmaster. People were attracted to Cascadia because of its mineral spring water.
