Casae Nigrae
Negrine is a town and commune in Tébessa Province in north-eastern Algeria. It was the site of ancient Casae Nigrae, a settlement of Roman North Africa with an attached bishopric that remains a Latin Catholic titular see. Geography Negrine is located in the Negrine District of the sahara of Tébessa Province, NE Algeria. It is north of the Chott el Ghasa, near the borders of Tunisian border and has an elevation of above sea level. The village population was 9445 inhabitants in 2008. The landscape is generally arid and the topography is generally flat, interspersed with long low mesas transecting the countryside. The Second Council of Nicaea is recognized as the last of the first seven ecumenical councils by the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church. Anne-Marie La Bonnardière
Anne-Marie La Bonnardière (1906-1998) was a scholar of St Augustine, known for her work on the influence of the bible on St Augustine's writing. Career Anne-Marie La Bonnardière studied at the Catholic University of Lyon, receiving a degree in Geography and History. She worked at a secondary school in Lyon until it was closed due to the outbreak of the Second World War, after which she moved to teach at the Lycée Français de Barcelone. In Barcelona, she began her research into St. Augustine, benefiting from the library at the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey. In 1947, she returned to France, joining the CNRS in Paris in 1947, working with H.-I. Marrou. Donatus Magnus
Donatus Magnus, also known as Donatus of Casae Nigrae, became leader of a schismatic sect known as the Donatists in North Africa, Algeria. He is believed to have died in exile around 355. Life Little is known of his early life because of the complete loss of his correspondence and written works. He first appears in Church records as Donatus of Casae Nigrae in October 313 when Pope Miltiades found him guilty of re-baptizing clergy who had lapsed and of forming a schism within the Church.
