Caryn Tyson
Caryn Tyson (born February 15, 1963) is a Republican member of the Kansas Senate, representing the 12th district since 2013. She succeeded Republican Senator Pat Apple, who chose to run in the newly redistricted 37th district, winning that seat. She was previously a member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing District 4 from 2011 to 2013. Tyson is a fifth generation Kansan from Parker, Kansas. She earned two Bachelor of Science degrees (Mathematics and Computer Science) from Kansas State University before completing a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Kansas. Before her time in the public sphere, she worked in the IT field for over 24 years. Her work included space shuttle support for NASA. Kansas's 2nd Congressional District
Kansas' 2nd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Kansas that covers most of the eastern part of the state, except for the core of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The district encompasses less than a quarter of the state. The state capital of Topeka is located within this district. The city of Lawrence, home of one of the state's universities, The University of Kansas, moved from the 2nd to the 1st congressional district in 2022. The district is currently represented by Republican Jake LaTurner. History Kansas had but one representative in the U.S. House of Representatives until after the 1870 U.S. Census, which showed that the state was entitled to three members of the lower branch of the national legislature. Dennis D. Pyle (born February 4, 1961) in Hiawatha, Kansas is an independent member of the Kansas Senate, representing the 1st district since 2005. He ran for governor of Kansas in the 2022 election. Steve Fitzgerald (born December 26, 1944) is an American politician and businessman who is former a Republican member of the Kansas Senate, representing the 5th district from 2013 until his resignation in 2018. He ran for the Republican nomination in Kansas's 2nd congressional district in 2018 but was defeated by Steve Watkins.
