Cartoonito (British And Irish TV Channel)
Cartoonito is a British television channel which targets children between the ages of 2 and 6. It is run by Warner Bros. Discovery under its Warner Bros. Discovery International, International division. Unlike the main channel, Cartoonito is not on Freeview. History Launch (2006–2007) On August 14, 2006, the Turner Broadcasting System announced they would launch a new pre-school-oriented block for Cartoon Network Too known as Cartoonito, which would launch on 4 September 2006, running from 6 AM to 3 PM. Relaunch as full channel (2007-present) On 2 May 2007, Turner announced that they would expand Cartoonito to a full-time network on 24 May 2007. This allowed for Cartoon Network Too to merge and replace Toonami (UK and Ireland), Toonami, allowing the full Cartoonito channel to launch in the ex-Cartoon Network Too slot. Toonami was a British children's channel which aired from September 2003 to May 2007. History Toonami was a programming block on Cartoon Network, until June 2002 when its programming was moved to the soon-to-be launched CNX, a new channel launched by Cartoon Network UK, the first Cartoon Network derivative to launch outside North America. CNX also broadcast martial arts movies, adult-oriented animation like the Adult Swim originals, and dramas like ''The Shield'' and ''Birds of Prey'' at night. The network's audience was young adult males. Almost a year later, CNX was relaunched as Toonami and now targeted towards a much younger audience. However, TOM (who was TOM 2, despite America already having switched to TOM 3) was ''not'' voiced by Steven Blum (minus when ''Lockdown'' aired on the channel in 2003), instead given a new voice actor: Christian Stevenson, otherwise known as DJ BBQ. CNX (short for Cartoon Network Extreme) was a short-lived British television channel operated by Cartoon Network Europe (Turner Broadcasting System Europe) in the UK and Ireland. It was aimed at a male audience, with daytime programming aimed at older children and teenagers (predominantly 12–18 years of age), and evening programming aimed at older teenagers and young adults (the 17-34 demographic). The channel was carried in the 'Entertainment' section of the Sky programme guide and was also available on cable. TCM Movies (formerly Turner Classic Movies) is a British pay television channel featuring classic movies, mostly from the Turner Entertainment and Warner Bros. film libraries, which include many MGM titles.
