CartoonArts International is a cartooning newspaper syndication service based in the United States. CartoonArts International distributes political and humor cartoons, caricatures, and graphics internationally and is updated daily. Most cartoons are in English, with some available in Spanish as well. CartoonArts maintains one of the world's most extensive cartoon archives, representing more than 550 artists from over 75 countries. The artists provide commentary on news stories and personalities. Jerry Robinson
Sherrill David Robinson (January 1, 1922 – December 7, 2011), known as Jerry Robinson, was an American comic book artist known for his work on DC Comics' Batman line of comics during the 1940s. He is best known as the co-creator of Robin and the Joker and for his work on behalf of creators' rights. He was inducted into the Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2004. Early life Jerry Robinson was born the youngest of five children in Trenton, New Jersey. His mother Mae was a bookkeeper born in Lower Manhattan. His father Benjamin Robinson was an entrepreneur who emigrated from Western Russia, near the Baltic states, in 1895. The couple opened the first theater in Trenton. A cartoonist is a visual artist who specializes in both drawing and writing cartoons (individual images) or comics (sequential images). Print syndication distributes news articles, columns, political cartoons, comic strips and other features to newspapers, magazines and websites. The syndicates offer reprint rights and grant permissions to other parties for republishing content of which they own and/or represent copyrights. Other terms for the service include a newspaper syndicate, a press syndicate, and a feature syndicate. The syndicate is an agency that offers features from notable journalists and authorities as well as reliable and established cartoonists. It fills a need among smaller weekly and daily newspapers for material that helps them compete with large urban papers, at a much lesser cost than if the client were to purchase the material themselves. Editorial Cartoon
A political cartoon, a form of editorial cartoon, is a cartoon graphic with caricatures of public figures, expressing the artist's opinion. An artist who writes and draws such images is known as an editorial cartoonist. They typically combine artistic skill, hyperbole and satire in order to either question authority or draw attention to corruption, political violence and other social ills. Gomaa Frahat, known as Gomaa, (April 24, 1941 – September 24, 2021) was an Egyptian political cartoonist and satirist. Biography Gomaa was born on April 24, 1941, in Cairo. Miel Prudencio Ma (also known as Miel or Dengcoy Miel) is a Filipino cartoonist and illustrator. He received the National Cartoonist Society Newspaper Illustration Award of 2001. Miel's work has been syndicated by the United Feature Syndicate/WittyWorld beginning in 1986, and lately by The New York Times Syndicate (NYTS)/Cartoonists and Writers Syndicate (CWS). Jovan Prokopljević
Jovan Prokopljević (born December 30, 1940 in Zemun; nicknamed "The Great") is a Serbian architect, cartoonist, and caricaturist. He has been awarded two Pierre awards and the First Prize for cartoons at international competitions in China, Montenegro, and Australia. Biography Prokopljević, who currently lives in Zemun, received a bachelor's degree from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Architecture (1967) and worked as an architect. His father was a chess player, and to honor his memory after his death, Prokopljević attended a chess exhibition.
