Cartonplast is a trademark that was first given by Covema, Covema spa (Italy) in the early seventies to a specific model of extrusion line manufactured and sold world wide by the aforesaid. In subsequent years such name was used as well to identify the product made by a Cartonplast extrusion line that is to say plastic corrugated sheet as well known as plastic hollow profile sheet or plastic twin wall sheet. Marco Terragni (26 April 1930 – 29 June, 2006) was an Italian entrepreneur and inventor. In 1953, he founded Covema one of the biggest conglomerate in the world plastic sector along with Dino Terragni and Felice Zosi. Biography Marco Terragni was born in Paderno Dugnano to Cav.Ercole Terragni (born in Paderno Dugnano, 1889 and died in Paderno Dugnano, 1966) and from Enrichetta Strada (born in Palazzolo Milanese, 1896 and died in Paderno Dugnano, 1970). The father descended from a decayed noble family and carried out the agricultural activity. Coroplast is a brand name of corrugated plastic and a registered trademark of Coroplast, LLC, a member of the Inteplast Group of companies. Because of the success of this brand, it has become a generically used tradename and many people in North America today refer to all corrugated plastic as "coroplast". Coroplast is produced with Cartonplast technology developted by Covema in 1974. A similar product is marketed in Australia under the brand name Corflute. Corrugated plastic or corriboard – also known under the tradenames of Cartonplast, Polyflute, Coroplast, FlutePlast, IntePro, Proplex, Correx, Twinplast, Corriflute or Corflute – refers to a wide range of extruded twinwall plastic-sheet products produced from high-impact polypropylene resin with a similar make-up to corrugated fiberboard. Masterbatch (MB) is a solid additive used for coloring (color masterbatch) or imparting other properties (additive masterbatch) to plastics. Masterbatch is a concentrated mixture of pigments and/or additives which is manufactured by encapsulation during a heat process or twin screw extrusion into a carrier matrixresin, which is then cooled and further cut into a granular shape. Masterbatch allows the processor to color raw polymer economically. The Melt Flow Index (MFI) is a measure of the ease of flow of the melt of a thermoplastic polymer. It is defined as the mass of polymer, in grams, flowing in ten minutes through a capillary of a specific diameter and length by a pressure applied via prescribed alternative gravimetric weights for alternative prescribed temperatures. Polymer processors usually correlate the value of MFI with the polymer grade that they have to choose for different processes, and most often this value is not accompanied by the units, because it is taken for granted to be g/10min.
