Caroline Jones (politician)
Caroline Yvonne Jones (born 1 April 1955) is a Welsh politician who was a Member of the Senedd (MS) for South Wales West from 2016 to 2021. A former leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) in the Senedd, Jones served as a UKIP Senedd Member from 2016 to 2018 when she left the party to sit as an independent. In May 2019 she joined the newly formed Brexit Party group in the Senedd. She later became independent again after disagreements with the party on its newly adopted anti-devolution policy. She joined the Independent Alliance for Reform group in October 2020. Education She was educated at Y Pant School and Glamorgan College of Education. Independent Alliance For Reform
The Independent Alliance for Reform ( cy, Y Gynghrair Annibynnol dros Ddiwygio) was a political group in the Senedd. It was founded in October 2020, and had three members. The party was dissolved in 2021 when all three of its Senedd Members lost their seats in that year's election. 2018 UKIP Wales Leadership Election
The 2018 UKIP Wales leadership election was a leadership election to determine the UK Independence Party's next leader in the National Assembly for Wales. The election was held from 18 June to 10 August 2018. The approximately 900 members of the party in Wales were eligible to vote in the election. After the 2016 Welsh Assembly election, Neil Hamilton was elected leader of the UK Independence Party group in the Assembly, replacing Nathan Gill. Hamilton had been supported by four AMs, whilst Gill had been supported by three. In May 2018, Caroline Jones replaced Hamilton after a majority vote in the then five-strong Assembly group. Paul Andrew Nuttall (born 30 November 1976) is a British politician who served as Leader of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) from 2016 to 2017. He was elected to the European Parliament in 2009 as a UK Independence Party (UKIP) candidate, and served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for North West England between 2009 and 2019, sitting in the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy group. 2015 United Kingdom General Election
The 2015 United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday, 7 May 2015 to elect 650 members to the House of Commons. It was the first and only general election held at the end of a Parliament under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011. Local elections took place in most areas on the same day. Polls and commentators had predicted the outcome would be too close to call and would result in a second consecutive hung parliament whose composition would be either similar to or more complicated than the 2010 general election. Opinion polls were eventually proven to have underestimated the Conservative vote as the party, having governed in coalition with the Liberal Democrats since 2010, won 330 seats and 36.9% of the vote share, giving them a small overall majority of 12 seats (including Speaker John Bercow—ten seats without him) and their first outright win since 1992. UKIP
The UK Independence Party (UKIP; ) is a Eurosceptic, right-wing populist political party in the United Kingdom. The party reached its greatest level of success in the mid-2010s, when it gained two members of Parliament and was the largest party representing the UK in the European Parliament. Porthcawl
Porthcawl (, ) is a town and community on the south coast of Wales in the county borough of Bridgend, west of the capital city, Cardiff and southeast of Swansea. Historically part of Glamorgan and situated on a low limestone headland on the South Wales coast, overlooking the Bristol Channel, Porthcawl developed as a coal port during the 19th century, but its trade was soon taken over by more rapidly developing ports such as Barry. Northwest of the town, in the dunes known as Kenfig Burrows, are hidden the last remnants of the town and Kenfig Castle, which were overwhelmed by sand about 1400. Toponymy is a common Welsh element meaning "harbour" and the ' here refers to "sea kale", which must have grown in profusion or even been collected here.
