Carley Ernst
Carley Monika Ernst (; born 1 August 1994) is an Australian professional basketball player. Career WNBL Mijović began her professional career in 2009 when she joined the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) for the 2009–10 WNBL season. She managed just four games in her first season and went on to sit out the entire 2010–11 season after undergoing a second knee operation. She returned to the AIS line-up in 2011–12 and played out her first full season. She subsequently earned WNBL Rookie of the Year honours after averaging 9.1 points and 5.2 rebounds in 18 games. In May 2012, Mijović signed with the Dandenong Rangers for the 2012–13 WNBL season. In 23 games for Dandenong, she averaged 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. During the 2013 off-season, she played for the Kilsyth Cobras. In June 2013, Mijović signed with the Canberra Capitals for the 2013–14 WNBL season. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. When on defense, they typically position themselves under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. The 2010–11 WNBL season was the 31st season of competition since its establishment in 1981. A total of 10 teams contested the league. The regular season was played between 9 October 2010 and 13 March 2011, followed by a post-season involving the top five in March 2011. The Canberra Capitals were the two-time defending champions, but were defeated in the Grand Final by the Bulleen Boomers. Broadcast rights were held by free-to-air network ABC. ABC broadcast one game a week, at 1:00PM at every standard time in Australia. Sponsorship included iiNet, entering its first year as league naming rights sponsor. SEABL
The South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) was an Australian semi-professional basketball league. The league comprised both a men's and women's competition and was run by the country's governing body, Basketball Australia. The league was one and the same with the Australian Basketball Association (ABA) from its inception in 1981 until 1993. With the inclusion of a North conference from Queensland in 1994, the history of the SEABL and ABA was split from one another for the first time. Over the years, the SEABL boasted teams from Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory. Frankston Blues is a NBL1 South club based in Melbourne. The club fields a team in both the Men's and Women's NBL1 South. The club is a division of Frankston & District Basketball Association (FDBA), the major administrative basketball organisation in City of Frankston. The 2016–17 WNBL season is the 37th season of competition since its establishment in 1981. The regular season begins on October 7, 2016 when the Sydney Uni Flames host the Perth Lynx and is scheduled to conclude on February 19, 2017. Townsville Fire were the two-time defending champions, but they were defeated by the Sydney Uni Flames in the Semifinals. The Flames would go on to take home their fourth WNBL title, their first in sixteen years, after defeating the Dandenong Rangers in the final. State Basketball League
NBL1 West, formerly the State Basketball League (SBL), is a semi-professional basketball league in Western Australia, comprising both a men's and women's competition. In 2020, Basketball Western Australia partnered with the National Basketball League (NBL) to bring NBL1 to Western Australia. Townsville Fire
The Townsville Fire are an Australian professional female basketball team competing in the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL). They are the only female professional sporting team of any discipline in the northern half of Australia. The team was established in 2001 by Townsville Basketball Inc. In 2014, James Cook University became the team's principal partner and naming rights sponsor. Following the 2010/11 season, the Fire were seemingly doomed, folding under the weight of financial pressures before an 11th hour resurrection. Waverley Falcons is a member club of the NBL1 South based in Melbourne, Victoria. The club fields both a men's and women's team. The club is a division of Waverley Basketball Association (WBA), the major administrative basketball organisation in the region. The Falcons play their home games at Waverley Basketball Centre.
