Carla Lalli Music is an American chef, cookbook author, and YouTube personality. She was a food editor at large of '' Bon Appétit'' and was known for her appearances in videos produced for the magazine's YouTube channel, most notably as the host of ''Back-to-Back Chef''. Music left the magazine in 2020. This was in response to allegations that ''Bon Appétit'' and Condé Nast Entertainment engaged in racial discrimination. Biography Music was born to an Italian-American family, where her mother worked as a food critic at ''New West'' and as a cookbook editor at Simon & Schuster. Music studied at Brown University, where she graduated with a degree in Modern Culture and Media in 1994, and later attended the French Culinary Institute. Gerald David "Lorenzo" Music (May 2, 1937 – August 4, 2001) was an American actor, producer and writer. Music began his career in the late 1960s as a writer and a regular performer on the controversial CBS variety show ''The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour''. In the 1970s, Music co-created the sitcom ''The Bob Newhart Show'' with David Davis (TV producer), David Davis and composed its theme music with his wife, Henrietta. He also wrote episodes for ''The Mary Tyler Moore Show'' and ''Rhoda'', and got his major voiceover role for playing the unseen, but often heard, Carlton the Doorman in ''Rhoda''. Music gained fame in the 1980s for voicing Jim Davis (cartoonist), Jim Davis' comic strip character Garfield (character), Garfield on Garfield television specials, twelve animated specials, and later in Garfield and Friends, cartoons, video games, and commercials until his death in 2001.
