Carl Amari
Carl Amari (born August 20, 1963) is an American film and television producer, actor, director and syndicated radio host, creator of ''When Radio Was''. Biography Amari was born in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Triton College and Columbia College. He founded the company Radio Spirits, which he sold in 1998 for $12 million. Amari has acted in several motion picture and television projects, including ''Madison'' (2001), which he produced. It opened the Sundance Film Festival. In 2007, Amari produced the ''Word of Promise'' audio Bible (NKJV translation) published by Thomas Nelson, Inc. Schaumburg, Illinois
Schaumburg ( ) is a village mostly in Cook County and partly in DuPage County in northeastern Illinois, United States. Per the 2020 Census, the population was 78,723. Schaumburg is around northwest of the Chicago Loop and northwest of O'Hare International Airport. It is part of the Golden Corridor. In 2018 ''Money'' magazine ranked the Village of Schaumburg the Best Place to Live in Illinois. In 2017, ''Money'' ranked Schaumburg the 9th-best place to live in the United States. Irving Brecher
Irving S. Brecher (January 17, 1914 – November 17, 2008) was a screenwriter who wrote for the Marx Brothers among many others; he was the only writer to get sole credit on a Marx Brothers film, penning the screenplays for ''At the Circus'' (1939) and '' Go West'' (1940). He was also one of the numerous uncredited writers on the screenplay of '' The Wizard of Oz'' (1939). Some of his other screenplays were ''Shadow of the Thin Man'' (1941), ''Ziegfeld Follies'' (1945) and ''Bye Bye Birdie'' (1963). Early years Born in the Bronx, New York, Brecher's first professional involvement with movies came when he became an usher at a Manhattan, New York movie theater at age 19. Even as a teenager he was writing jokes, sending them to newspaper columnists Walter Winchell and Ed Sullivan on postcards. ''The Life of Riley'' is an American radio situation comedy series of the 1940s that was adapted into a 1949 feature film, a 1950s television series, and a 1958 comic book. Radio The radio program initially aired on the Blue Network (later known as ABC) from January 16, 1944, to July 8, 1945, it then moved to NBC, where it was broadcast from September 8, 1945, to June 29, 1951. Irving Brecher pitched the radio series for friend Groucho Marx under the title ''The Flotsam Family'', but the sponsor balked at what would have been essentially a straight head-of-household role for Marx. ''When Radio Was'' is a syndicated radio program that re-airs old-time radio programs. History The series began as a local program in Chicago, hosted by Carl Amari, who was the founder of Radio Spirits, Inc., which sells tapes and CDs of old time radio programs. Former CBS Radio executive Dick Brescia heard an in-flight version of the program, and soon mounted a nationally syndicated version of the show (through Dick Brescia Associates), beginning Jan. 1, 1990 and hosted by Art Fleming. The New King James Version (NKJV) is an English translation of the Bible. The complete NKJV Bible was published in 1982 by Thomas Nelson, now HarperCollins. The NKJV is described by Thomas Nelson as being "scrupulously faithful to the original, yet truly updated to enhance its clarity and readability."
