Cariboo Prospector
The ''Cariboo Prospector'' or ''Cariboo Dayliner'' or The BC Rail Budd cars was a passenger train service in British Columbia, Canada, which used Budd Rail Diesel Car trains. It was operated by the Pacific Great Eastern, later known as the British Columbia Railway Company and then BC Rail. The train ran from BC Rail's North Vancouver railway station, the one located a few blocks from the current North Vancouver railway station used by the ''Rocky Mountaineer'', and ran to Lillooet railway station. From there a section was split from the train that would continue down to Prince George BC Rail station located in BC Rail's Prince George yards. This train service ended along with the other BC Rail passenger services in 2002. Koaham Shuttle
The Kaoham Shuttle is a Lillooet–Seton Portage passenger rail service along the northern shore of Seton Lake in the Squamish-Lillooet region of southwestern British Columbia. By BC Highway 99, the eastern terminus is about northeast of Vancouver. Earlier railway shuttles In 1934, a Lillooet–Shalalth shuttle was established, and a diameter turntable was installed east of Seton Portage, because the initial gasoline-powered cars could only be operated from one end. This was not the case for gas car no. 107, bought in 1949, but built in 1926. In 1958, the western terminus moved to Seton Portage. The railbus hauled one or two trailers loaded with automobiles and trucks on a twice daily return service. The completion of access roads and the introduction of new Budd Rail Diesel Cars on the BC Rail daily intercity service in the late 1950s prompted the end of this shuttle in 1961. Budd Rail Diesel Car
The Budd Rail Diesel Car, RDC, Budd car or Buddliner is a self-propelled diesel multiple unit (DMU) railcar. Between 1949 and 1962, 398 RDCs were built by the Budd Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The cars were primarily adopted for passenger service in rural areas with low traffic density or in short-haul commuter service, and were less expensive to operate in this context than a traditional diesel locomotive-drawn train with coaches. The cars could be used singly or coupled together in train sets and controlled from the cab of the front unit. The RDC was one of the few DMU trains to achieve commercial success in North America. Seton Portage
Seton Portage () is a community located on a narrow strip of land between Anderson Lake and Seton Lake in Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, British Columbia. The community is home to two Seton Lake First Nation communities at either end of the portage and a non-native recreational community between them. Local services include a post office, fire department, library, and general store, among other small businesses. The community is also the location of Seton Portage Historic Provincial Park, a small provincial park protecting a historically significant stretch of railway.
