''Carey Saheber Munshi'' is a Bengali historical drama film directed by Bikash Roy based on a novel of the same name by Pramathanath Bishi. This film was released on 20 January 1961 under the banner of Bikas Roy Productions Private Limited. Plot The movie revolves with a historic story of British India. The protagonist of the film is Ramram Basu who is the manager (or ''munshi'') of William Carey, a Churchman come from England. Ramram, a man of modern thoughts faces serious problems to spread education among the Bengali people. But his fight is going on against cruel customs, rituals of Bengal. Manju Dey (7 May 1926 — 30 September 1989) was a Bengali actress and director. She received the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the 25th Annual BFJA Awards for the film '' Carey Saheber Munshi'' in 1962. Career Dey was born in Baharampur, British India in 1926. She first became popular for her acting in Bengali film ''Jighansa''. She was a leading actress in various black and white films in the early 1950s and 1960s. Pahari Sanyal (22 February 1906 – 10 February 1974) was an Indian actor and singer who is known for his work in Bengali cinema. Sanyal acted in many Bengali films, such as ''Harano Sur'', ''Bhanu Goenda Jahar Assistant'', and ''Shilpi''. Chhabi Biswas (''Chabi Biśbās'') (13 July 1900 – 11 June 1962) was an Indian actor, primarily known for his performances in Tapan Sinha's '' Kabuliwala'' and Satyajit Ray's films '' Jalshaghar'' (''The Music Room'', 1958), '' Devi'' (''The Goddess'', 1960) and ''Kanchenjungha'' (1962).
