Capt. M.K. Priya Brata Singh
Maharaj Kumar Priya Brata was an Indian politician and official. He served as Chief Minister of Manipur from 15 August 1947 to 15 October 1949. Early life He was the second son of Churachand Maharaj and Rani Shyamasakhi on 17 February 1911. He was the fourth child and second son of Maharaja Churachand Singh. He was educated at the Rajkumar College, Raipur (Chhattisgarh). He passed the examination from Ewing Christian College, Allahabad and graduated from the Allahabad University in 1934. Career He was appointed Durbar Member in 1936 and given the portfolio of Education, Police and P.W.D. Besides, he supervised Manipur State Arts and Crafts. He was commissioned as an Emergency Commissioned Officer in August, 1942. He served with the 2nd Assam Regiment. Released early 1947, he rejoined the State Durbar and was in Charge of police. Meidingngu Churachand
Maharaja Sir Meidingngu Churachand , also known as Churachandra or Chura Chand (1886–1941), was a List of Meitei kings, Meitei King and a Maharaja of Manipur kingdom, Kangleipak (). He ascended the throne after his predecessor Kulachandra Singh was jailed. He was a 5-year-old boy when he was placed on the throne on 22 September 1891, after the troubles of the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891. In 1907, he was formally declared king, after completing education at Mayo College. He received the title of Maharaja in 1918 and was knighted as a Knight Commander of the Order of the Star of India in the 1934 New Year Honours, becoming Sir Churachandra Singh. Bodhchandra Singh
Maharaja Bodhchandra Singh or Bodhachandra Singh (1908–1955) was the last ruler of the Kingdom of Manipur. He ruled between 1941 and 15 October 1949. He married seven or nine women, his first wife being HH Srimati Maharani Tharendra Kishori (Rajkumari Ram Priya Devi), who died in 1942; she was daughter of the Raja of Bodo Khimedi. During his lifetime, the Princely State of Manipur was extinguished and absorbed by the Government of India. He was succeeded by Maharaja Okendrajit Singh, but there were no further princes after the state was extinguished and the privileges of the native princes abolished. Rajkumar College (or RKC) in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, is one of the oldest K-12 foundations of India. It was founded by Sir Andrew Fraser in the year 1882 at Jabalpur. Manipur State Constitution Act 1947
Manipur State Constitution Act 1947 is an act which enabled Manipur State to have a dejure written constitution enacted by the last Maharajah of Manipur Bodhchandra Singh. The validity of the act in present time is debated. Background After the 1891 rebellion in Manipur, the British took direct control of the state's administration. While the Maharaja was retained the Maharaja as a nominal head of state, the real power rested with the British Political Agent and an official appointed as the President of the Durbar. The hill regions, populated by Naga and Kuki tribes, were taken out of the jurisdiction of the Maharaja and administered by the President using Assam regulations.
