Discordance Axis was an American grindcore band from East Brunswick, New Jersey. Biography Frontman Jon Chang stated on the history of the band: "Discordance Axis was a three piece grindcore band that started in NJ around 1992. The band started after myself and Rob's previous band disintegrated and we found Dave at a Human Remains show. We asked him to play a split 7-inch with us and it snowballed from there. The pattern was, we got together and wrote and recorded some material, then would part ways. NoComply were a metal-influenced punk rock sextet hailing from Plymouth, Devon in the south of England. They took their name from the skateboarding trick known as " no comply". On 23 January 2006, the band announced their intention to split up. History NoComply formed in the autumn of 1998. The founder members were Kelly (vocals), Jon (guitars), and Nick (bass). The final line up was completed by Si (drums), Oz (trombone), and Matt (saxophone). Early incarnations of the band were driven by covering the likes of Pennywise and AFI in Jon’s bed, all learnt from the internet. Hellnation was an hardcore punk band from Covington, Kentucky. The band was active from 1988 to 2010. The band's sound has been described as thrashcore, powerviolence and grindcore. Cripple Bastards is a grindcore band from Asti, Italy. They were formed in 1988 in order to keep their area on the hardcore punk map as most of the other bands around them were breaking up. Biography They were formed by vocalist Giulio the Bastard and guitarist Alberto the Crippler. They were initially a metal-influenced punk band called Grimcorpses. However, they were not satisfied with their music and soon decided to make their style more extreme, which was accompanied by a name change. They combined hardcore and metal influences with grindcore, but still managed to sound different from many other grindcore bands at the time. Man Is The Bastard
Man Is the Bastard was an American hardcore punk band based in Claremont, California. The band existed from 1990 to 1997, releasing mostly vinyl splits, extended plays, and albums on obscure labels from around the world. By 1997, the group ended and members all went on to do other projects, such as the noise group Bastard Noise, which originally started out as a Man Is the Bastard side project. MDC is an American punk rock band formed in 1979 in Austin, Texas, subsequently based in San Francisco, and currently Portland, Oregon. Powerviolence
Powerviolence (sometimes written as power violence) is an extremely dissonant and fast subgenre of hardcore punk which is closely related to thrashcore and grindcore. In contrast with grindcore, which is a "crossover" idiom containing musical aspects of heavy metal, powerviolence is just an augmentation of the most challenging qualities of hardcore punk. Like its predecessors, it is usually socio-politically charged and iconoclastic. History Siege are considered the pioneers of powerviolence. Additionally, Infest have received credit for having an early impact on the genre. The microgenre solidified into its commonly recognized form in the early 1990s.
