Capital Health (Alberta)
Capital Health was a public health authority providing complete health services to Edmonton, Alberta's capital city, and its surrounding central Alberta communities. It was also the largest single employer in the province of Alberta, employing approximately 30,000 people. In 2008 it was merged into Alberta Health Services. History The Capital Health Authority was created on June 24, 1994 under Alberta's Regional Health Authorities Act. On May 26, 2003 it was renamed Capital Health. On July 1, 2008 it was absorbed into the province-wide Alberta Health Services Board. Redwater is a town in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by Sturgeon County. It is located on Highway 38, approximately north of Edmonton. Its population was 2,053 in the 2016 census, while the town's municipal census conducted in 2012 counted a population of 2,116. The Misericordia Community Hospital is an acute care hospital located in west Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Misericordia is home to the Institute for Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine (iRSM), a facility for reconstruction of the face, head and neck. Sherwood Park is a large hamlet in Alberta, Canada within Strathcona County that is recognized as an urban service area. It is located adjacent to the City of Edmonton's eastern boundary, generally south of Highway 16 (Yellowhead Trail), west of Highway 21 and north of Highway 630 (Wye Road). Stony Plain is a town in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region of Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by Parkland County. Stony Plain is known for its many painted murals representing various periods, events and people throughout the town's history. The town was originally known as Dog Rump Creek.
