Canterbury Kings
Canterbury is a first-class cricket team based in Canterbury, New Zealand. It is one of six teams that compete in senior New Zealand Cricket competitions and has been the second most successful domestic team in New Zealand history. They compete in the Plunket Shield first-class competition and The Ford Trophy List A cricket, one day competition as well as in the Men's Super Smash competition as the Canterbury Kings. Henry Nicholls (cricketer)
Henry Michael Nicholls (born 15 November 1991) is a New Zealand cricketer who represents the New Zealand national team and plays for Canterbury in domestic first-class cricket. He has two older brothers, one of whom, Willy Nicholls, is a media correspondent for the Black Caps and White Ferns. He has also been the captain of the reserve A side since 2017. International career In December 2015, Nicholls was named in New Zealand's One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against Sri Lanka. He made his ODI debut on 26 December 2015 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, which is his home ground for Canterbury. He scored 23 not out off 21 balls in that game as New Zealand won by 7 wickets. Off Break
Off spin is a type of finger spin bowling in cricket. A bowler who uses this technique is called an off spinner. Off spinners are right-handed spin bowlers who use their fingers to spin the ball. Their normal delivery is an off break, which spins from left to right (from the bowler's perspective) when the ball bounces on the pitch. For a right-handed batsman, this is from his off side to the leg side (that is, towards the right-handed batsman, or away from a left-handed batsman). The ball breaks ''away'' from the off side, hence the name 'off break'. Off spinners bowl mostly off breaks, varying them by adjusting the line and length of the deliveries. Jack Boyle (born 24 March 1996) is a New Zealand cricketer. He made his first-class debut for Canterbury on 22 November 2016 in the 2016–17 Plunket Shield season. Chad Bowes
Chad Jayson Bowes (born 19 October 1992 at Benoni, Gauteng, Transvaal in South Africa) is a South African born New Zealand cricketer who captained the South Africa Under-19 cricket team and played for the domestic side KwaZulu-Natal. In October 2015 Chad joined the Sydenham Cricket Club in Christchurch, New Zealand, coached by former Black Caps Chris Harris. He made his ODI debut for New Zealand in 25 march 2023. Leo Carter
Leo Carter (born 10 December 1994) is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for Canterbury. He is the son of former Canterbury and Northamptonshire batsman, and current White Ferns coach, Bob Carter. Career He was part of New Zealand's squad for the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In June 2018, he was awarded a contract with Canterbury for the 2018–19 season. On 5 January 2020, in the 2019–20 Super Smash match between Canterbury and Northern Districts, Carter hit six sixes in one over off the bowling of Anton Devcich. Rangiora
Rangiora is the largest town and seat of the Waimakariri District, in Canterbury, New Zealand. It is north of Christchurch, and is part of the Christchurch metropolitan area. With an estimated population of Rangiora is the 30th largest urban area in New Zealand, and the fifth-largest in the Canterbury region (behind Christchurch, Timaru, Ashburton and Rolleston). Mainpower Oval
Rangiora Recreation Ground (also known as the MainPower Oval through a sponsorship deal with local company MainPower) is a cricket ground in Rangiora, Canterbury, New Zealand, Canterbury, New Zealand. The Recreation Ground is recorded as being in existence since the early 1870s, and used for cricket since 1891. Hagley Oval
Hagley Oval is a cricket ground in Hagley Park in the central city of Christchurch, New Zealand. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1867, when Canterbury cricket team hosted Otago cricket team. Canterbury used the ground infrequently from then through until the 1920s, but hardly stopped during World War I. The first match in the Plunket Shield was played there in December 1907, when Canterbury played Auckland. Canterbury returned there in 1979, and played a number of their 1993/94 Shell Cup home matches at the ground. 2020–21 Ford Trophy
The 2020–21 Ford Trophy was the 50th season of The Ford Trophy, the List A cricket tournament that was played in New Zealand. It was the tenth in a sponsorship deal between New Zealand Cricket and Ford Motor Company. It started on 29 November 2020 and finished on 6 March 2021. Auckland were the defending champions. On 15 June 2020, New Zealand Cricket announced the first round of contracts for domestic teams ahead of the 2020–21 season. The full schedule for the tournament was confirmed on 8 October 2020. Following the conclusion of the group stage, Northern Districts and Wellington progressed to the preliminary final, with Canterbury topping the group and advancing directly to the tournament's final.
