Canning City Soccer Club is a football (soccer) club, based in Willetton, Western Australia, who play their home games at the Willetton Sports Club. They were originally established as Canning Corinthians in 1972, that entity dissolving in 1992, before returning to the Western Australia State League in 2001 as Canning City Soccer Club. The club currently (2019) competes in the Football West State League Division 2. Club history Canning Corinthians were formed in 1972, by David Schrandt and John Reilly, and began competing in the old Third Division of the Soccer Federation of WA. Success was not far off, as in 1976, Corinthians won promotion to the Second Division. Corinthians enjoyed 7 solid years in the second division, finishing in mid-table places before being relegated at the end of the 1983 season. The club was founded in 1987 as the result of a merger between three local sides, though its pre-merger history is regarded to be that of Perth Azzurri after taking full control of the club in 2002. Cockburn City
Cockburn City Soccer Club is an Australian soccer club currently playing in the National Premier Leagues Western Australia. They play their home games at Dalmatinac Park and train at Beale Park. History Cockburn City Soccer Club's origin goes back to 1929 when they were known as Spearwood Rovers, and after the 1964 season they amalgamated with Britannia (who had renamed a year earlier from Fremantle City) to become Cockburn United. Willetton, Western Australia
Willetton is a large southern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Its local government area is the City of Canning. History Willetton's name derives from Henry Willett of Willett & Co, who was granted Canning Location 21 (roughly the location of modern Lynwood and Parkwood) and settled in the area in June 1832. In November 1964, the Shire of Canning proposed the names "Burtsdale" and "Willetton" for Willetton and Lynwood/Parkwood respectively, the name Burtsdale honouring Septimus Burt, who purchased the land in 1882.
