Candi Patrice Mundon King is an American politician who has served as a Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member of the Virginia House of Delegates since 2021. Biography King obtained a bachelor's degree in political science from Norfolk State University. She has worked as a nonprofit program manager and an education advocate. Political career 2021 King announced her campaign for delegate in December 2020, shortly after her predecessor Jennifer Carroll Foy resigned to 2021 Virginia gubernatorial election, run for governor, causing a special election. After winning the Democratic primary, King faced Republican Heather Mitchell in the general election on January 5, 2021. King won with 51.5% of the vote, with a margin of 263 votes. King's re-election involved a primary challenge from Prince William County resident Pamela Montgomery. Virginia's 2nd House of Delegates district is one of 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, the lower house of the state's bicameral legislature. District 2 represents parts of Prince William and Stafford counties. The seat is currently held by Democrat Candi King. Elections 2017 The seat was previously held by Republican L. Mark Dudenhefer. He announced in January 2017 he would not seek reelection. Democrat Jennifer Carroll Foy won the June 2017 primary to become the Democratic candidate. Jennifer Denise Carroll Foy (born September 25, 1981) is an American lawyer and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she is a public defender by occupation. Carroll Foy was elected to represent Virginia's 2nd House of Delegates district in 2017, which covers parts of Prince William County and Stafford County in Northern Virginia. In December 2020, she resigned from the House of Delegates, in order to focus on her campaign for Governor of Virginia in 2021. She lost in the Democratic primary, placing second behind Terry McAuliffe. She is currently running for State Senate in Virginia's 33rd Senate district.
