Honduras
Honduras, officially the Republic of Honduras, is a country in Central America. Roberto Micheletti Baín (born 13 August 1943) is a Honduran politician who served as the interim ''de facto'' president of Honduras from 28 June 2009 to 27 January 2010 as a result of the 2009 Honduran coup d'état. The Honduran military ousted the President, and the National Congress read a letter of resignation, which was refuted two minutes later by Zelaya in conversation with CNN en Español; days later, the coup-plotters claimed that the Supreme Court had ordered to forcefully detain President Manuel Zelaya because "he was violating the Honduran constitution"; Zelaya was exiled rather than arrested. 2009 Honduran Constitutional Crisis
The 2009 Honduran constitutional crisis was a political dispute over plans to either rewrite the Constitution of Honduras or write a new one. Honduran President Manuel Zelaya planned to hold a poll on a referendum on a constituent assembly to change the constitution. A majority of the government, including the Supreme Court and prominent members of Zelaya's own party, saw these plans as unconstitutional as they could lead to presidential reelection, which is permanently outlawed by the Honduran constitution. The Honduran Supreme Court upheld a lower court injunction against a 28 June poll. However, the constitutional process for dealing with this situation was unclear; there were no clear procedures for removing or prosecuting a sitting president. Radio Globo is a radio station operating in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. It is known for its opposition to the 2009 Honduran coup d'état as well as being the radio station for 24/7 news channel Globo TV. It is owned by Alejandro Villatoro. The station is headed by David Romero Ellner. On September 25, 2009, David Romero asserted that Jews are a problem in Honduras, and supported Hitler and the holocaust. The ''Association of Descendants of Sephardic Jews in Honduras'' issued a public statement against Romero Ellner. Television in Honduras consists of both local channels and foreign television, normally distributed through cable. History Honduras had initially adopted ATSC Standards for digital terrestrial television broadcasting, but later decided to adopt the ISDB-T International standard used in many other Latin American nations. The Comisión Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CONATEL) decided on January 9, 2007 to adopt the ATSC standard, which went into effect on January 16, 2007, when it was published in the "Diario Oficial La Gaceta".
