The Canadian Traditional Scouting Association is a Traditional Scouting association in Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, and British Columbia in Canada. The Association is a conditional member of the World Federation of Independent Scouts. The Association is affiliated with the Baden-Powell Scouts' Association in the United Kingdom. Program The Association's programs are based on the writings of Robert Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell who founded the Scouting movement in 1907. Of particular importance are B-P's books ''Scouting for Boys'', ''The Wolf Cub's Handbook'', ''Aids to Scoutmastership'', and ''Rovering to Success''. The programs have an emphasis on outdoor activities, skill development, youth leadership, and international travel. World Federation Of Independent Scouts
The World Federation of Independent Scouts (WFIS) is a non-governmental international Scouting organization with over 7 million members in 151 affiliated Scout organizations in 65 countries. WFIS was formed in Laubach, Germany, in 1996 by Lawrie Dring, a British Scouter with the independent Baden-Powell Scouts' Association (BPSA). The World Federation of Independent Scouts is open to any Scouting association that is not affiliated with another international organization. Traditional Scouting
Traditional Scouting is "old-fashioned" or "back to basics" Scouting in some form, often with an emphasis on woodcraft and scoutcraft activities. As a pluralist movement, there is no one set definition for the term, but most traditionalists share a common set of values and procedures. The Baden-Powell Scouts' Association (''B-PSA'') is a worldwide youth organisation originating in the United Kingdom, with friendly relationships with similar traditional scouting organisations in various countries. Scouting, also known as the Scout Movement, is a worldwide youth movement employing the Scout method, a program of informal education with an emphasis on practical outdoor activities, including camping, woodcraft, aquatics, hiking, backpacking, and sports. Another widely recognized movement characteristic is the Scout uniform, by intent hiding all differences of social standing in a country and encouraging equality, with neckerchief and campaign hat or comparable headwear. Early editions were written and illustrated by Robert Baden-Powell with later editions being extensively rewritten by others. The Wolf Cub's Handbook
''The Wolf Cub's Handbook'' is an instructional handbook on Wolf Cubs training, published in various editions since December 1916. Early editions were written and illustrated by Robert Baden-Powell with later editions being extensively rewritten by others. The book has a theme based on Rudyard Kipling's ''The Jungle Book'' jungle setting and characters. Origins In 1914, The Boy Scouts Association of the United Kingdom had Percy Everett prepare a programme for boys who were too young to be Boy Scouts (at about 11 years old). Rovering To Success
''Rovering to Success'' is a life-guide book for Rovers written and illustrated by Robert Baden-Powell and published in two editions from June 1922. It has a theme of paddling a canoe through life. The original edition and printings of second edition were subtitled ''"A Book of Life-Sport for Young Men"'' but this was changed to ''"A Guide for Young Manhood"'' in the later printings. Origins of the book In 1921, Baden-Powell set about writing a book to accompany The Boy Scouts Association's Rover program which had been suggested in August 1918 and launched in November 1919.
