The Canada national under-19 cricket team represents the country of Canada in under-19 international cricket. Canada has qualified for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup on eight occasions, the most of any associate member from the ICC Americas region. History Two Canadian players represented the ICC Associates XI at the inaugural 1988 Youth Cricket World Cup in Australia. Four Canadians represented the combined Americas XI at the 2000 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. At the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup Canada finished in 11th position. They won two games in the competition, against Zimbabwe in the group stage and against Papua New Guinea in the play-off for 11th place. Farooq Kirmani (born 1 June 1955) is a former international cricketer who represented the Canadian national team between 1982 and 1991. He was born in Pakistan, and played at first-class level there before emigrating to Canada. The 2002 Under-19 Cricket World Cup was played in New Zealand from 19 January to 9 February 2002. A total of 16 sides competed in the tournament with Australia defeating South Africa in the final. Lincoln Green is a cricket ground in Lincoln, Canterbury, New Zealand. The ground is located directly next to the Bert Sutcliffe Oval and forms part of the New Zealand Cricket Academy. The first recorded match on the ground came when New Zealand Women played New Zealand A Women team in February 1997. Later that year the ground held its first first-class match when the New Zealand Academy cricket team played Bangladesh, which the academy won against their opponents who had yet to gain Test status by an innings and 115 runs. Potchefstroom (, colloquially known as Potch) is an academic city in the North West Province of South Africa. It hosts the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University. The 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament that was held in New Zealand from 13 January to 3 February 2018. It was the twelfth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and the third to be held in New Zealand (after the 2002 and 2010 events). New Zealand was the first country to host the event three times. The opening ceremony took place on 7 January 2018. The West Indies were the defending champions. However, they failed to defend their title, after losing their first two group fixtures. Following the group stage fixtures, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Africa had all qualified for the Super League quarter-final stage of the tournament. The 2016 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament held in Bangladesh from 22 January to 14 February 2016. It was the eleventh edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and the second to be held in Bangladesh, after the 2004 event. The World Cup was contested by the national under-19 teams of sixteen International Cricket Council (ICC) members, and all matches played were held under-19 One Day International (ODI) status. Ten teams qualified automatically for the tournament through their status as ICC full members, while five others qualified by winning regional qualifying events. The final place at the tournament was taken by the winner of the 2015 Under-19 World Cup Qualifier, which was contested by the runners-up at the five regional qualifiers. 2012 Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was a one-day cricket competition for sixteen international U-19 cricketing teams which was held in August 2012. This was the ninth time that the tournament was held since its inception back in 1988. The tournament was held in Australia for the second time after previously hosting it in 1988 with the tournament being held across three cities (Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Townsville). Six teams qualified from the qualifying event as they joined the full members that automatically qualified through to the World Cup. The teams were separated into four groups of four with the top two teams qualifying through to the Super League while the bottom two will compete in the Plate Championship. 2010 Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was the eighth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup and took place in New Zealand. Since 1998, the tournament has been held every 2 years. This edition had 16 teams competing in 44 matches between 15 and 30 January 2010. These included the 10 ICC Full Members and 6 Qualifiers. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in Kenya, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) moved it to New Zealand after an inspection in June 2009 found that it would be unrealistic to expect Kenya to complete preparations in time. Australia won the tournament, beating Pakistan in the final by 25 runs.
