Qualification
Sixteen teams participated in the competition: the 10 nations with ICC Full Membership automatically qualified for the tournament, the UAE qualified as the hosts, and five additional teams qualified through the different regional tournaments. Unlike the
previous tournament, there was no global qualifier for this world cup: rather, the winner of each of five regional tournaments directly qualified for the World Cup.
