The Campeonato Pernambucano de Futebol (Pernambucan Football Championship, in English) is the football championship of Pernambuco state, Brazil, and is organized by the Federação Pernambucana de Futebol, FPF. The first edition of the Campeonato Pernambucano was played in 1915, and was won by Sport Club Flamengo, Flamengo de Recife, a defunct club. In the 2022 Campeonato Pernambucano, 2022 season, 10 clubs played for the title. The Campeonato Pernambucano 2008 is the 94th edition of the Campeonato Pernambucano. The competition was won by Sport. Format Série A1 (A1 Series) The ''Campeonato Pernambucano'' is divided into two rounds: ''Taça Tabocas e Guararapes'' (''Tabocas and Guararapes Cup'') and ''Taça Confederação do Equador'' (''Confederation of the Equator Cup''). In 2008, they will have two different formats. The Tabocas and Guararapes Cup consists of two stages. In the first, the twelve teams are divided into three groups (by geographic criteria) and play with the other teams of the same group. After six rounds, the teams will be redistributed in other three groups (by technical criteria) and, again, play with the other teams of the same group. Central Sport Club, usually known simply as Central, is a Brazilian football club. Based in Caruaru, Pernambuco state, the club competes in the Série D. History On June 15, 1919, at Sociedade Musical Comercial Caruaruense, the club was founded by Francisco Porto de Oliveira and the club name was a suggestion by Severino Bezerra.
