Cameron Merchant
Cameron James Merchant (born 4 January 1984) is an Australian cricketer living in Sydney. Career After a Second XI career in Australia, moved to New Zealand to play first class cricket for Northern Districts from 2007. A left-handed batsman and occasional right-arm off-break bowler, Merchant continually alternated between Northern Districts' First and Second XIs into the 2009 season. During his career, he has scored more than 1,000 runs in First and Second XI cricket, including two centuries and five half-centuries. He was formerly a professional at the Toronto Cricket Club in Canada. Manly Warringah District Cricket Club
Manly Warringah District Cricket Club is a cricket club in based in Manly, Sydney, Australia who play in the Sydney Grade Cricket competition. Founded in 1878, Manly was a foundation club in the Sydney grade competition. Manly are relatively successful, having won the Club Championship 5 times since the year 2000. The current head coach is Tim Cruickshank and the first-grade captain Jay Lenton. Manly play their home games at Manly Oval. The club has produced a number of international cricketers, more recently Stephen O'Keefe, Stuart Clark and Michael Bevan, and all-time great Keith Miller. In 2019, Morne Morkel played a season at Manly in preparation for the Big Bash which he played for the Perth Scorchers and after he retired, he became Manly's Assistant Coach.. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. NSW Premier Cricket (formerly known as Sydney Grade Cricket) is a cricket competition played in Sydney, Australia. The competition began in 1893 when a number of clubs that had been playing for many years on an ad hoc basis voted to create a formal competition structure. The NSW Premier Cricket competition is generally played on Saturdays and begins in mid-September and continues until the grand final is played on the first weekend of April. Spectators are generally few and far between at matches, mostly family members, partners or club members. The exception to this is at T20 matches which can attract crowds into the hundreds and occasionally the low thousands. Players for the NSW team are selected from the first-grade competition. Twenty20
Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. Together with first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. A typical Twenty20 game is completed in about two and a half hours, with each innings lasting around 70 minutes and an official 10-minute break between the innings.
