Cambuslang RFC
Cambuslang RFC is a rugby union side based in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The team was established in 1903. They play their home games at Coats Park. They currently play in . History On 7 August 1903, a meeting was held under the Presidency of the late H. Shepherd, Esq., at which it was decided to form a Rugby Club at Cambuslang. The Club commenced playing at Greenlees Farm, and under the guidance of Mr. Shepherd and the benevolent auspices of the late Dr. T. D. Laird, its Honorary President, went from strength to strength until the beginning of the 1914–1918 War. During this period, the Club progressed to the extent of running two teams and of raising funds and building a small Clubhouse. The Scottish Rugby Union (SRU; gd, Aonadh Rugbaidh na h-Alba) is the governing body of rugby union in Scotland. Scott Forrest
Scott William Forrest (born 6 August 1984) is a Scottish retired rugby union player who competed in rugby sevens at 2010 Commonwealth Games, serving as captain of the national team at the event. He is the head coach of the Scotland Women 7s squad and the Great Britain Women 7s team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Early life Forrest was born in Rutherglen. Duncan Weir (born 10 May 1991) is a Scotland international rugby union rugby player. He plays professional rugby for United Rugby Championship side Glasgow Warriors at fly-half. Rugby Union career Amateur career Weir was educated at Cathkin High School. He played for Cambuslang RFC. Weir was drafted to Glasgow Hawks for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. Richard James Gray (born 24 August 1989) is a Scotland national rugby union team, Scotland international rugby union player, who plays for Glasgow Warriors. He previously played for Stade Toulousain, Toulouse, Castres Olympique and Sale Sharks. Glasgow City Sevens
Glasgow City Sevens is an annual rugby sevens tournament held by Cartha Queens Park, in Dumbreck in the south side of Glasgow. The tournament was previously known as the Cartha Sevens and the Cartha Queens Park Sevens. History The first rugby sevens tournament started by Cartha RFC took place in April 1935 and continued for the following two years. After a break around the Second World War period the Sevens were reintroduced in 1950 and in has been played in all the subsequent years. The tournament became known as the Cartha Queens Park Sevens on the merger of Cartha and Queens Park F.P. in 1974. The tournament has been called the Glasgow City Sevens since 2005. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Boroughmuir RFC
Boroughmuir RFC is a rugby union football club in the Scottish Rugby Union. The club's home ground is Meggetland, in southwest Edinburgh and the club plays in the , where they are known as the Boroughmuir Bears. Founded in 1919 and admitted to the SRU in 1939, it was originally restricted to former pupils of Boroughmuir High School. The badge is derived from Boroughmuir High School and they acquired it in 1913. Although it has lost that direct connection, the home ground and navy blue/emerald colours are unchanged. The club won the Scottish unofficial club rugby championship in the 1954–55 and 1972–73 seasons. The club have the second longest number of seasons in the top division having only been relegated twice and on both occasions bouncing straight back up to the top division. Cambuslang
Cambuslang ( sco, Cammuslang, from gd, Camas Lang) is a town on the south-eastern outskirts of Greater Glasgow, Scotland. With approximately 30,000 residents, it is the 27th largest town in Scotland by population, although, never having had a town hall, it may also be considered the largest village in Scotland. It is within the local authority area of South Lanarkshire and directly borders the town of Rutherglen to the west. Historically, it was a large civil parish incorporating the nearby hamlets of Newton, Flemington, Westburn and Halfway.
