The California Baptist Lancers are the athletic teams that represent California Baptist University, located in Riverside, California, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) for most of its sports since the 2018–19 academic year; while the men's water polo team competes in the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA); the women's water polo team competes in the Golden Coast Conference (GCC); and the men's wrestling team competes in the Big 12 Conference. California Baptist University (Cal Baptist or CBU) is a private Christian university in Riverside, California. Founded in 1950 as California Baptist College, it is affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention, an organization affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. CBU is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission. The Pacific West Conference (also known as the PacWest) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. NAIA Women's Volleyball Championship
The NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship is the annual tournament to determine the national champions of NAIA women's collegiate indoor volleyball in the United States and Canada. It has been held annually since 1980. The most successful program was BYU–Hawaii, with 10 NAIA national titles (BYUH subsequently joined the NCAA and discontinued sports in 2017). The current champions are Missouri Baptist, who won its first national title in 2020 and repeated as champions in 2021. California Baptist Lancers Men's Basketball
The California Baptist Lancers men's basketball team represents California Baptist University in the Western Athletic Conference. The team made the jump into Division I basketball on July 1, 2018. They are currently led by head coach Rick Croy and play at the CBU Events Center, which opened in 2017 and replaced the Van Dyne Gym. The men's basketball program will be ineligible for play in the NCAA Division I Tournament during their transition period, although they can be eligible for other tournaments such as the College Basketball Invitational. The California Baptist Lancers women's basketball team is a basketball team that represents California Baptist University in Riverside, California, United States. The California Baptist Lancers compete as members of the Division I Western Athletic Conference (WAC). They are currently led by head coach Jarrod Olson and play at the CBU Events Center. In the 2020-21 season, the Lancers won the WAC regular season championship with a perfect 14-0 record. Despite being ineligible for the NCAA tournament due to being in the third year of a four-year transition from Division II to Division I, they were allowed by the WAC to compete in the conference tournament. They won the semifinal and final matchups against New Mexico State and Grand Canyon, respectively, by 43 combined points. The California Baptist Lancers baseball team represents California Baptist University, which is located in Riverside, California. The Lancers are an NCAA Division I college baseball program that competes in the Western Athletic Conference. They began competing in Division I in 2019 and joined the Western Athletic Conference the same season. The Cal Baptist Lancers play all home games on campus at James W. Totman Stadium. Under the direction of Head Coach Gary Adcock, the Lancers are transitioning from Division II to Division I and are not eligible for postseason play.
