Calgary Fillies
The Calgary Fillies were a proposed women's football expansion team in the Legends Football League (LFL) that was to begin play in the 2013 LFL Canada season. Based in Calgary, Alberta, the Fillies were to play their home games at the Stampede Corral. History The Legends Football League (LFL) announced on June 27, 2013, that an expansion franchise was granted to Calgary, following a failed effort in 2012 due to a failed lease negotiation with ScotiaBank Saddledome. A series of public tryouts were held on July 7 at the Genesis Centre and on July 20. The original head coach for the Fillies was Jarrod Neufeld and the team manager was Daniel Reaume. For the 2013 season, each Canadian team was to have three players from the LFL US. The BC Angels were a women's football team in the Lingerie Football League (LFL) and played in the 2012 LFL Canada season. Based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, (70 kilometres away from Vancouver) the Angels played their home games at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre. The Angels won the Lingerie Bowl Canada I, the league championship in the only season it was contested. The Brandt Centre (formerly the Regina Agridome) is an indoor arena at REAL District in Regina, Saskatchewan. Built in 1977, it is the home arena for the WHL's Regina Pats. The Saskatoon Sirens were a women's football team in the Lingerie Football League (LFL) and played in the 2012 LFL Canada season. Based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, the Sirens played their home games at the Credit Union Centre. The Sirens were one of four teams in the LFL Canada league, after the Toronto Triumph (which played in the main LFL for the 2011–12 season), BC Angels, and the Regina Rage. Because Saskatoon lacks a professional football team of its own, the Sirens' colours were based on those of the Saskatoon Blades, the local team in the Western Hockey League. Stampede Corral
The Stampede Corral was a multi-purpose venue (ice hockey, professional wrestling, rodeo, tennis) in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Located on the grounds of Stampede Park, the arena was completed in 1950 at a cost of C$1.25 million ($ million today) to replace Victoria Arena as the home of the Calgary Stampeders minor professional hockey club (not to be confused with the present-day Canadian Football League team of the same name), which hosted their Western Hockey League games for years. The Corral was built and owned by the not-for-profit Calgary Exhibition & Stampede organization, which leased the underlying land at $1/year from the city of Calgary.
