Caleuche Awards
The Caleuche Awards ( es, Premios Caleuche) is an awards ceremony presented to recognize the best in performances of the season, in feature films, television serials, miniseries and anthology series, and comedy. They were created and organized by the Corporation of Actors of Chile (Chileactores), sponsored by VTR for their first edition. The first awards ceremony was held on 25 January 2016 at the Teatro Nescafé de las Artes in Santiago. It was hosted by Chilean actor Alejandro Trejo and was broadcast by CNN Chile and Radio Bío-Bío, in television and radio, respectively Background The Caleuche Awards are the first Chilean awards ceremony destined to recognize mainly acting performances. Previously, the Altazor Awards were presented from 2000 to 2014 to reward the best in Chilean visual arts, theater, dance, music, cinema and television. Chile, officially the Republic of Chile, is a country in the western part of South America. Caleuche
The Caleuche (from the Mapudungun ''kalewtun,'' "to transform, to change" and ''che'', "people": "transformed people"), also called The Enchanted Ship, Barcoiche, The Ghost Ship, or The Warlocks' Ship, is a legendary ghost ship from Chilote mythology in southern Chile. Origin of the legend and versions The legend of Caleuche is related to many aspects of history and the beliefs of the archipelago of Chiloé. In the book of Chiloé mythology (written by Renato Cárdenas), is a collection of stories, legends and magical beliefs obtained by oral tradition: The Caleuche is the Marino, the Ship of Magic, the Ship of fire, the Barcoiche. ADN Radio Chile
ADN (In English: DNA) (acronym: ''Actualidad, Deportes, Noticias'', in English: ''News,'' ''Sports, News'') is a Chilean radio station that broadcasts on 91.7 MHz FM in Santiago, Chile. ''The Clinic'' is a partly satirical Chilean newspaper that offers analysis and opinion on politics, culture, and current affairs. The newspaper was founded by Patricio Fernández Chadwick in November 1998. The paper includes a wide mix of cultural criticism, jokes, in-depth interviews, and investigative work. Javiera Contador (born June 17, 1974 in Santiago) is a Chilean actress, comedian and television hostess. She played ''Quena Gómez de Larraín'' on the television show Casado con Hijos. Teletón (Chile)
Teletón is a charity event held in Chile on a yearly basis since 1978. It is usually held during the first week of December, unless a political election occurs at the same time. The major Chilean television networks hold a 27-hour transmission, to raise funds to help children with developmental disabilities (most commonly cerebral palsy) treated at ''Instituto de Rehabilitación Infantil'' ("Infant Rehabilitation Institute") centers of the Fundación Teletón.
