Adolfo Calero
Adolfo Calero Portocarrero (December 22, 1931 – June 2, 2012) was a Nicaraguan businessman and the leader of the Nicaraguan Democratic Force, the largest rebel group of the Contras, opposing the Sandinista government. Calero was responsible for managing the bank accounts into which money was deposited and then used to buy supplies and arms for the Contras. He was brought to testify at hearings of the US Congress in May 1987. Early years Calero was born on December 22, 1931 in Managua to Adolfo Calero Orozco (1899–1980) and María Portocarrero (1911–1944), who had married in 1927. The oldest of four children, he studied in the United States, graduating from University of Notre Dame in 1953 and Syracuse University. In Managua, he managed the Coca-Cola bottling plant. Marcelo Calero Faria Garcia (born 7 July 1982) is a Brazilian diplomat and politician. He was Minister of Culture (Brazil), Minister of Culture of the government Michel Temer. Lake Calero is an artificial lake about southeast of Rancho Cordova, California in the United States. The lake is formed by Calero Dam, built in across Crevis Creek. Its waters reach the San Francisco Bay by way of Deer Creek, the Cosumnes River, the Mokelumne River, and the Sacramento River. Calero Reservoir, also called Calero Lake, is a reservoir in San Jose, California, located in the Calero neighborhood of Almaden Valley in South San Jose. It is the site of Calero County Park, which also includes a large area covering the lake and hundreds of acres of hills around it. Rudel Alessandro Calero Nicaragua (born December 20, 1982) is a Nicaraguan footballer who currently plays for Real Estelí and the Nicaragua national football team. Róger Calero (born 1969) is a Nicaraguan journalist living in the United States and one of the leaders of the Socialist Workers Party. He was SWP candidate for President of the United States in 2004 and 2008, and for the United States Senate in New York in 2006. Early life Calero was born in Nicaragua in 1969. He and his family fled via Los Angeles, California, in 1985. Calero has been a lawful permanent resident of the United States (holding a green card) since 1990. While in Los Angeles, Calero joined a socialist movement and helped mobilize support against Proposition 187 in the early 90s. Ricardo Carballo Calero ( Ferrol, 1910 – Santiago de Compostela, 1990), self-styled as Ricardo Carvalho Calero from 1981 onward, was a Spanish philologist, academic and writer. He was the first Professor of Galician Language and Literature at the University of Santiago de Compostela. He was a member of the Royal Galician Academy, the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, and also an honorary member of the Galician Language Association. Ignacio "Nacho" Calero Pérez (born 5 July 1991) is a Spanish motorcycle racer. He currently races in the Supersport World Championship aboard a Kawasaki ZX-6R.
