Caity Gyorgy
Caity Gyorgy is a Juno Award winning Canadian jazz singer from Calgary, Alberta. She received the Juno Award for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year in 2022 for her EP, ''Now Pronouncing: Caity Gyorgy,'' and in 2023 for her debut LP, ''Featuring.'' She is a graduate of the music program at Humber College and received her Masters of Music in jazz performance at McGill University. She released both her debut album ''No Bounds'' and the EP ''Now Pronouncing'' in 2021. Gyorgy has performed at the Toronto Jazz Festival and the Calgary Jazz Festival. She has also performed alongside artists such as Allison Au, Jocelyn Gould, and Pat LaBarbera. Toronto Jazz Festival
The Toronto Jazz Festival is a jazz event in Toronto which takes place for 10 days in late June through early July. Unlike the Beaches International Jazz Festival, most of the events are indoors and located throughout the downtown core. The hub of the festival is Nathan Phillips Square, with more than 40 other locations spread out all across the city. It attracts over 500,000 people and is the city's third largest annual music festival next to NXNE and The Beaches International Jazz Festival. Christine Jensen (musician)
Christine Jensen is a composer, conductor, and saxophonist based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She was awarded the Juno Award for Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year for her albums ''Habitat'' (2014) and ''Treelines'' (2011). She is the sister of trumpeter Ingrid Jensen. Jensen received her Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance at McGill University in 1994, and later her Master's in 2006. She has studied under the tutelage of Pat LaBarbera, Jim McNeely, Kenny Werner, and Steve Wilson. Pat LaBarbera
Pat (Pascel Emmanuel) LaBarbera (born April 7, 1944) is an American-born Canadian jazz tenor, alto and soprano saxophonist, clarinetist, and flautist born in Mt. Morris, New York, most notable for his work as a soloist in Buddy Rich bands from 1967 to 1973. He moved to Toronto, Ontario in 1974, and is a member of the faculty at Humber College. La Barbera began working with Elvin Jones in 1975, touring Europe with him in 1979. While working with Buddy Rich, Pat also was working in groups led by Woody Herman and Louie Bellson. Pat has also played with Carlos Santana. LaBarbera has played a major role in the development of a generation of Canadian saxophonists. Jocelyn Gould is a Canadian jazz guitarist. Her album, ''Elegant Traveler'' was awarded the 2021 Juno Award for Jazz Album of the Year - Solo. She is also the 1st place winner of the 2018 Wilson Centre International Jazz Guitar competition. She is a graduate of the University of Manitoba, and later received her Master's of Music at Michigan State University. Gould has performed alongside many notable musicians including Freddy Cole, Jodi Proznick, Laila Biali, Allison Au, and Will Bonness. Gould is currently a faculty member and Head of Guitar Department at Humber College. Allison Au
Allison Au is a Canadian jazz saxophonist. She has been nominated twice for a Juno Award for best jazz album, winning once. Career Au was born to a Chinese father and a Jewish mother; her maternal grandmother is a Holocaust survivor. Au grew up in Toronto listening to her father's diverse record collection. She started classical piano lessons at age six and started playing the alto saxophone The alto saxophone is a member of the saxophone family of woodwind instruments. Saxophones were invented by Belgian instrument designer Adolphe Sax in the 1840s and patented in 1846.
