Lincoln Gardens, also known during its history as Royal Gardens, Royal Gardens Café, the New Charleston Café and Café de Paris, was a night club and dance hall that played an instrumental role in the history of jazz and youth culture in the city of Chicago during the first three decades of the 20th century. Opening sometime in the first few years of the 20th century, it was the largest dance hall in South Side, Chicago prior to the opening of the Savoy Ballroom in 1927. Originally a venue that employed only white musicians and catered to only white patrons, it was reinvented as a space for patrons and musicians of all races by African-American entrepreneurs Virgil Williams and William Bottoms in 1918. This reinvented venue was at first the home of Bill Johnson and the Original Creole Band. Later King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band was the resident band at the venue from 1922 through 1924. Edgar Neville Romrée, Count of Berlanga de Duero (28 December 1899 – 23 April 1967) was a Spanish playwright and film director, a member of the "other" Generation of '27. Biography Neville was born in Madrid but lived in Hollywood in the 1930s, in the period of the dubbed Spanish versions of the studios' English-language films. He wrote dialogue for MGM's Spanish language films, and won acclaim for his script adapted from George Hill's ''The Big House'' (1930). During the Spanish Civil War, Neville made a few short propaganda films for the Nationalist side. He also made three movies in Rome. The films he directed in the 1940s and 1950s mixed realism and romanticism, but did not perform particularly well at the box-office. He was captain of the Spain men's national ice hockey team at the 1924 Ice Hockey European Championship and also played at the 1926 Ice Hockey European Championship. The 15-minute program ran on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from January 17. 1949, to March 4, 1949. Premise Singer Sylvie St. Claire was the host of a Paris nightclub that she inherited. She hired the Stan Free Trio to perform in the club, after which she obtained a contract for TV broadcasts, which provided funds to keep the club in operation. None of the episodes are known to survive.
