Café De Paris (TV Series)
''Café de Paris'' was an American musical variety show broadcast on the DuMont Television Network. The 15-minute program ran on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from January 17. 1949, to March 4, 1949. Premise Singer Sylvie St. Claire was the host of a Paris nightclub that she inherited. She hired the Stan Free Trio to perform in the club, after which she obtained a contract for TV broadcasts, which provided funds to keep the club in operation. None of the episodes are known to survive. Ballantine Books is a major book publisher located in the United States, founded in 1952 by Ian Ballantine with his wife, Betty Ballantine. It was acquired by Random House in 1973, which in turn was acquired by Bertelsmann in 1998 and remains part of that company today. Ballantine's original logo was a pair of mirrored letter Bs back to back, while its current logo is two Bs stacked to form an elaborate gate. Jacques Aubuchon
Jacques Georges Aubuchon (October 30, 1924 – December 28, 1991) was an American actor who appeared in films, stage, and on television in the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Aubuchon, who grew up in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, was the son of Arthur and Flora Aubuchon. He went to Assumption Preparatory School and served in the US Army during World War II. During his working career, Aubuchon made over 300 television appearances, made two dozen films, did hundreds of television commercials, plus wrote plays. One of Aubuchon's best known roles was as Chief Urulu on ''McHale's Navy''. Aubuchon's first part on Broadway was as the sewerman in ''The Madwoman of Chaillot'' and ''Paris 7000'' was the first television show that he had a regular part on. Aubuchon, who was the father of television writer and producer Remi Aubuchon and father-in-law of Dirk Blocker, died of heart failure at the age of 67. The DuMont Television Network was launched in 1946 and ceased broadcasting in 1956. Allen DuMont, who created the network, preserved most of what it produced in kinescope format. By 1958, however, much of the library had been destroyed to recover the silver content of the film prints, and eventually the remaining material was simply discarded. Since then, there has been extensive research on which DuMont programs have episodes extant. This is a list of programs broadcast by the DuMont Television Network, which operated in the United States from 1942 to 1956. All regularly scheduled programs which were aired on the DuMont network are listed below, regardless of whether they originated at DuMont. Some DuMont network series were actually broadcast from Baltimore's WAAM-TV, Chicago's WGN-TV, Cincinnati's WCPO-TV, or Philadelphia's WFIL. These stations were not DuMont-owned stations but were affiliated with the network. Programs which aired on the DuMont network but originated from affiliate stations are noted in this list.
