Caaguazú Department
Caaguazú () is a department in Paraguay. The capital is the city of Coronel Oviedo. History In the 16th and 17th centuries, European settlers in the present-day department of Caaguazú were threatened by the Portuguese Bandeirant and Guaicurú Indians, preventing permanent settlement of the land for many years. In the 18th century, repopulation of Caaguazu began again. In 1712, Gregorio Bazán de Pedraza founded the Villa de San Isidro Labrador de Curuguaty, followed by Ybytimí in 1715, San Joaquín in 1746, and Carayaó in 1770. In 1906, the area was assigned the name Yhú, including the departmental capital of Yhú, Ajos (present day Coronel Oviedo), Carayaó, San Joaquín and Caaguazú. Upon territorial reorganization in 1945, it was given the name of Caaguazú. In 1973, the present-day territory and limits of this department were defined. Curuguaty
Curuguaty (; originally called Villa de San Isidro Labrador de los Reyes Católicos de Curuguaty) is a city and a district in the Canindeyú Department of Paraguay, that was the 4th and last capital of Paraguay during the Paraguayan War in 1869–1870. Toponimy The meaning of the word “Curuguaty” is “place of the Curugua”, ''curugua'' (Latin: '' Cucurbita odorifera'') being a plant very common in the area. Geography Canindeyú Department has a richness in flora and is surrounded by the Mbaracayú Mountains, which have an average altitude of 400 meters above ocean level. Guairá () is a Department (subnational entity), department in Paraguay. The capital is the city of Villarrica, Paraguay, Villarrica. Alto Paraná (; ''Upper Paraná'') is a department in Paraguay. The capital is Ciudad del Este (formerly known as Puerto Presidente Stroessner, originally Puerto Flor de Lis). The Alto Paraná department has experienced tremendous economic and population growth in the past 50 years. San Pedro Department, Paraguay
San Pedro () is a department of Paraguay. The capital is the city of San Pedro de Ycuamandiyú. History During the 17th and 18th centuries there was even greater political and population instability than in Concepción. The Mbayá and Payagua native tribes threatened all the area between the Ypané (in the north) and Manduvirá (in the south) Rivers and the valley by the Jejuí River. In 1660 the natives revolted in Arecajá against the postal parcel system, causing the disappearance of this town. Cayo Sila Godoy
Cayo Sila Godoy (4 December 1919 – 2 September 2014) was a classical guitarist from Paraguay. Youth Cayo Sila Godoy was born in Villarrica Paraguay on December 4, 1919. His mother and his uncles were talented musicians who exposed him at an early age to the piano, violin, mandolin, harp and tropical guitar. He studied music first with his uncle Marciano Echauri, and from the age of 16, harmony with Juan Carlos Moreno Gonzalez. Sila left his home of Villarrica at the age of 16 to accept a scholarship at the National Music Conservatory in Asunción, Paraguay. By age 24 he graduated from the conservatory as a professor of music theory and musicology. Following graduation he was awarded a grant to continue his musical education in Buenos Aires, where he remained for nine years under the tutelage of Consuelo Mallo López.
