The CMLL Universal Championship 2009 (''Campeonato Universal'' in Spanish language, Spanish) was a professional wrestling annual tournament produced by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) that took place over three CMLL Super Viernes shows between June 5, 2009 and June 19, 2009 in Arena México, Mexico City, Mexico City, Mexico. The CMLL Universal Championship is an annual tournament of CMLL Champions that was first held in 2009. All officially recognized male CMLL Champions participated in a 15-match single elimination tournament. In the final CMLL World Heavyweight Championship, CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Último Guerrero defeated NWA World Light Heavyweight Championship, NWA World Light Heavyweight Champion El Texano Jr. to become the first CMLL Universal Champion. José Gutiérrez Hernández (born March 1, 1972), better known by his ring name Último Guerrero (Spanish for ''Last Warrior''), is a Mexico, Mexican (or Professional wrestling, professional wrestler), who works for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). He is not related to the ''lucha libre'' legend Gory Guerrero or any of his children; "Guerrero" in this case is the Spanish word for warrior and not the surname of the character. On September 19, 2014, Último Guerrero lost a ''Lucha de Apuestas'' match to Atlantis (wrestler), Atlantis, after which he was forced to unmask and reveal his birth name. The CMLL World Mini-Estrella Championship (''Campeonato Mundial Mini-Estrella de CMLL'' in Spanish) is a professional wrestling championship promoted by the Mexican Lucha libre wrestling-based promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL; Spanish for "World Wrestling Council"). The championship is exclusively competed for in the ''Mini-Estrellas'', or Minis, division. The CMLL World Lightweight Championship ( es, Campeonato Mundial de Peso Ligero del CMLL) is a professional wrestling World Heavyweight Championship (professional wrestling)#Nomenclature, world championship promoted by the Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), a Mexican ''Lucha Libre'' wrestling professional wrestling promotion, promotion (franchise). Máscara Dorada
Máscara Dorada (born August 24, 1988) is the ring name of a Mexican ''luchador'' '' enmascarado'' (masked professional wrestler) currently working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). He is best known for his time in WWE where he performed under the ring name Gran Metalik. His real name has not been officially documented, a tradition in Mexican lucha libre where masked wrestlers' real names often are not a matter of public record. In Mexico and Japan, he is best known for his decade-long stint in Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre under the ring name "Máscara Dorada". He made his debut in 2005, originally using the masked persona Plata II. He later used the ring name Metalik, holding the local Occidente Welterweight Championship, but abandoned the championship when he adopted the Máscara Dorada character. The Mexican National Trios Championship (''Campeonato National Trios'' in Spanish) is a three-man tag team professional wrestling championship, sanctioned by the "Comisión de Box y Lucha Libre Mexico D.F." (''Mexico City Boxing and Wrestling Commission''), which oversees all matches where the championship is defended. Since its creation in 1985 the championship has been promoted by several major Mexican wrestling promotions, Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre (EMLL), Asistencia AsesorÃa y Administración (AAA) and is currently promoted by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL, formerly EMLL). Jesus Toral López (born January 7, 1969) is a luchador or professional wrestler who has worked almost exclusively in Mexico. López has achieved most success under the ring name Black Warrior. He is best known for his work for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) between 1995 and 2013. Over the years Black Warrior has played both the rúdo (the Spanish term used for the villains in wrestling) and técnico (the Spanish term used for the good guys in wrestling).
