CKLU-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at FM radio, FM 96.7 in Greater Sudbury, Sudbury, Ontario. It is the campus radio station of the city's Laurentian University, and airs programming in both English language, English and French language, French, along with special interest programming for other language communities in the area. History The station launched in 1984 as a closed-circuit radio, closed circuit station, available only in certain locations on campus. In 1986, the station was added to cable FM service in Sudbury, using the unofficial callsign CFLR. The station operated at cable 106.7 FM. In 1996, the station applied to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, CRTC for an FM license. The application was granted, and the station began broadcasting over the airwaves at 96.7 MHz in 1997. Content Arndt Peltner hosts ''Radio Goethe'', a weekly radio program that was started in November 1996 on the College Radio Station KUSF, San Francisco. The Sudbury Theatre Centre is a professional theatre company, located in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Following an Ontario government report in 1967 which recommended the creation of a theatre company in Sudbury, local arts patrons Sonja Dunn, Carolyn Fouriezos, Bill Hart, Bob Remnant and Peg Roberts raised funds to bring the Gryphon Theatre Company of Barrie to Sudbury for a production of Neil Simon's '' Come Blow Your Horn''. That production was staged at Laurentian University's Fraser Auditorium in May 1970. Following that production, the Sudbury Theatre Centre was officially incorporated on September 14, 1971. CFLR-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 90.1 MHz ( FM) in La Romaine, Quebec. The station broadcasts a community radio format with programming in both French and Innu. The Sudbury Wolves are an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) ice hockey team based in Greater Sudbury, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. A portable classroom (also known as a demountable or relocatable classroom, portables, bungalows), is a type of portable building installed at a school to temporarily and quickly provide additional classroom space where there is a shortage of capacity. Putumayo World Music is a New Orleans-based record label that specializes in compilations of world music, jazz and blues. History Dan Storper founded Putumayo in 1975 as a retail store in New York City featuring handicrafts from around the world. Storper took the name of his company, Putumayo, from Colombia's Putumayo River Valley where he travelled in 1974. ''Putumayo'' is said to mean a heron and "the place where the river begins" in the local indigenous language. He eventually opened 7 world handicraft and clothing boutiques across the northeastern United States. In 1991, on his way home from Bali, Storper stopped in San Francisco, California.
