CFLR-FM
CFLR-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 90.1 MHz ( FM) in La Romaine, Quebec. The station broadcasts a community radio format with programming in both French and Innu. The station received CRTC approval in 1992. CFLR was also the informal call sign of CKLU in Sudbury, Ontario when it broadcast only on cable FM. When that station became officially licensed as an FM radio station in 1996, it adopted its current call sign since the CFLR call sign was already in use in La Romaine. CKLU-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at FM radio, FM 96.7 in Greater Sudbury, Sudbury, Ontario. It is the campus radio station of the city's Laurentian University, and airs programming in both English language, English and French language, French, along with special interest programming for other language communities in the area. History The station launched in 1984 as a closed-circuit radio, closed circuit station, available only in certain locations on campus. In 1986, the station was added to cable FM service in Sudbury, using the unofficial callsign CFLR. The station operated at cable 106.7 FM. In 1996, the station applied to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, CRTC for an FM license. La Romaine, also known as Unamenshipit in Innu-aimun, is an Innu First Nations reserve in the Côte-Nord region of Quebec, Canada, at the mouth of the Olomane River on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. It belongs to the Innu band of Unamen Shipu. Being an enclave within the Municipality of Côte-Nord-du-Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent, it is geographically within Le Golfe-du-Saint-Laurent Regional County Municipality but administratively not part of it. Directly adjacent to the reserve is the community of La Romaine consisting of a small French-speaking population. La Romaine is only accessible by boat or via the La Romaine Airport. It is serviced by a nursing station, community radio station, arena, community and recreation centre, municipal water and sewer system, fire station, and an aboriginal police force.
