CKKQ-FM (''100.3 The Q'') is a broadcast radio station in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. CKKQ broadcasts at a frequency of 100.3 MHz on the FM band. The station has broadcast a mainstream rock format since its inception, but has a more classic rock sound since 2001, when sister station CKXM AM/-FM became The Zone @ 91.3 with the CJZN calls and an alternative rock format. It used to have an adult album alternative lean up until Pattison took over the station from OK Radio. History CJZN signed on for the first time on January 18, 1950, as CKDA, initially broadcasting on 1340 AM at 250 watts under the ownership of Capital Broadcasting System Ltd. (headed by founder David Armstrong). On August 1, 1954, CKDA moved to 1280 AM and increased its power to 5,000 watts; in 1955, CKDA-FM was signed on as a simulcast of CKDA, and was the studio transmitter link to the off-shore transmitter site. Greater Victoria (also known as the Greater Victoria Region) is located in British Columbia, Canada, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. "Start Me Up" is a song by the English rock band the Rolling Stones from their 1981 album ''Tattoo You''. Released as the album's lead single, it reached number one on Australian Kent Music Report, number two in Canada, number two on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, number seven on the UK Singles Chart, and the top ten in a handful of European countries north of the Alps. Writing and recording The basic track "Start Me Up" was recorded during the January and March 1978 sessions for the Rolling Stones' album ''Some Girls''. The song began as a reggae-rock track named "Never Stop", but after dozens of takes it was abandoned. "Start Me Up" was not chosen for the album and was saved for later use. Richards commented: In 1981, with the band looking to tour, engineer Chris Kimsey proposed to lead singer Mick Jagger that archived songs could comprise the set. Malahat, British Columbia
Malahat () is an unincorporated area in the Cowichan Valley, with municipal-type services delivered by the Cowichan Valley Regional District (Area A). What could be considered the hub of the community is a small collection of businesses that includes the Malahat Gas station (which also serves as the Malahat Post Office) and the Malahat Chalet and the Moon Water Lodge. A steep and rugged terrain has in the past precluded any significant residential development but new subdivisions are being built around the northern end of the area around the old Bamberton cement works and in the area adjoining Elkington Forest. Nanaimo ( ) is a city on the east coast of Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada. The District of Kent is a district municipality located east of Vancouver, British Columbia.
