CKBL-FM (92.9 FM, "92.9 The Bull") is a radio station in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Owned by 629112 Saskatchewan Ltd. trading as Saskatoon Media Group, it broadcasts a country music format. History The station originated on the AM dial as CFQC, which began broadcasting in 1923. It was founded by electrical supply shop owners A. A. "Pappy" Murphy and David Streb. Murphy bought out Streb in 1932. The station was an affiliate of the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission from 1933 to 1936 when it affiliated with the newly formed Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. It lost that affiliation in 1939 when the CBC signed on CBK as its outlet for all of southern and central Saskatchewan. In 1944 it became an affiliate of the CBC's Dominion Network until 1962 when the network was reabsorbed into the main CBC Radio network and CFQC became independent. CJWW is a Canadian radio station, airing a country format at 600 AM in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The station is owned by Elmer Hildebrand via 629112 Saskatchewan Ltd. (trading as Saskatoon Media Group). It shares studios with sister stations CKBL-FM and CJMK-FM at 219 Robin Crescent (as of June 21, 2021). The Dominion Network was the second English-language radio network of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation from January 1, 1944 to 1962. It consisted of the CBC-owned CJBC radio station in Toronto and a series of 34 privately owned affiliates from coast-to-coast. The Dominion Network was set up as a complementary network to the CBC's main English service which became known as the Trans-Canada Network. CBK is a Canadian public radio station, licensed to Watrous, Saskatchewan. It broadcasts the CBC Radio One network on an assigned frequency of 540 kHz to most of southern and central Saskatchewan. Its studios are located at the CBC's broadcast centre at 2440 Broad Street in Regina, with an additional bureau in the Saskatoon Co-op building on 4th Avenue South in Saskatoon. "Stand Tall" is the title of an international hit single by Burton Cummings, taken from his eponymous debut album. The song was released less than two years after "Dancin' Fool", the final hit single by the group for which Cummings had been lead singer, The Guess Who. The recording was issued as the album's lead single in the fall of 1976, spending 21 weeks on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and reaching number 10.
