CHYM-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 96.7 FM in Kitchener, Ontario. The station currently airs an adult contemporary format using its on-air brand name as ''CHYM 96.7'' and is owned by Rogers Sports & Media. CHYM's studios are at The Boardwalk, while its transmitter is on Baden Hill also known as the Baden Tower, just west of the Kitchener city limits. CICX-FM (105.9 MHz) is a radio station in Orillia, Ontario. Owned by Bell Media, it broadcasts a country format branded as '' Pure Country 106''. The studio and office is located in Orillia while its transmitter is located near The Horseshoe Valley. History The station was originally launched in 1943, broadcasting at 1450 AM in Nobel, with the call sign CFPS. Following the end of World War II, the station's owner, Gordon Ellesworth Smith, wanted to affiliate the station with CBC Radio's Dominion Network, but without a feed line to get CBC programming to the station, this was not possible in Nobel, so in the summer of 1945, the station was shut down and moved to Orillia, where it relaunched on September 3 as 1450 CFOR. Larche Communications
Larche Communications was a Canadian media company, which operated four radio stations in the province of Ontario. The company was named for its president, Paul Larche. Based in Midland, Ontario, Midland, the company began in 1997 when it acquired CICZ-FM in Midland. Larche later expanded to Waterloo, Ontario, Waterloo when it was licensed to open a new station, CIKZ-FM, CIKZ. The company later entered an agreement with Rogers Media in 2007, selling CIKZ to that company in exchange for CICX-FM in Orillia. Orillia
Orillia is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is in Simcoe County between Lake Couchiching and Lake Simcoe. Although it is geographically located within Simcoe County, the city is a single-tier municipality. It is part of the Huronia region of Central Ontario. The population in 2021 was 33,411. It was incorporated as a village in 1867, but the history of what is today the City of Orillia dates back at least several thousand years.
