CHMX-FM (92.1 MHz, ''Play 92'') is a radio station in Regina, Saskatchewan. Owned by Harvard Media, it broadcasts a rhythmic adult contemporary format. History The station was launched on February 4, 1966 by Metropolitan Broadcasting with the call sign CFMQ. It was acquired by Buffalo Broadcasting in 1974 and by Harvard Broadcasting, its current owner, in 1981. In 1994, it flipped to country as ''Country 92'', airing a "new country" format to flank sister station CKRM. In 1999, the station flipped to a CHR format as ''Kiss 92''. In 2001, it flipped to soft adult contemporary as ''Lite 92''. On August 3, 2011, it flipped to mainstream adult contemporary as ''My 92.1''. On September 4, 2020, CHMX flipped to a rhythmic adult contemporary format as ''Play 92'', featuring a focus on hit music from the 1990s and 2000s. CKPW-FM (107.1 MHz, ''Play 107'') is a radio station in Edmonton, Alberta. Owned by Harvard Media, it broadcasts a rhythmic adult contemporary format. Its studios are located on the Calgary Trail, while its transmitter is located in Acheson. History On October 17, 2008, the CRTC approved an application by John Charles Yerxa for a new FM radio station in Edmonton, which would feature a "diverse" format of new popular music aimed towards teens and young adult demographics. CJNW-FM started testing on September 16, 2009 (under the working title ''New 107 FM''), and officially launched on October 6, 2009 as rhythmic contemporary ''Hot 107 FM''. John Yerxa is the son of Hal Yerxa, a former broadcaster at CFCA-FM, and was the only local station owner in Edmonton. CKRM is an AM radio station in Regina, Saskatchewan, broadcasting at 620 kHz. Owned by Harvard Media, CKRM broadcasts a full service country format. Alongside music programming, CKRM is notably the flagship station of the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League, and the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League. History CKRM was established in 1926 in Moose Jaw under the call letters CJRM. Its original owner was the Winnipeg, Manitoba grain trade, grain merchant James Armstrong Richardson, Sr., James Richardson and Sons. In 1928, the James Armstrong Richardson, Sr., Richardsons opened CFWM-FM, CJRW in Winnipeg and networked their two stations.
